Smile - Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 20-Oct 26,2014 Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 20-Oct 26,2014

Day 2 post op, feeling quite exhausted tonight. I'm still in hospital but been feeling pretty good, though had visitors all afternoon and it's absolutely exhausted me. Just a reminder that it is major surgery.

Stella no BM though passing plenty of wind. A friend stocked me up with prunes, cranberry juice and have been getting the nurses to give me stool softeners so hopefully some action happening soon.

Hope everyone is doing well with their recovery. I'm so glad I stumbled on this site, enjoy hearing other people's experiences and knowing I'm not going through this alone.

Thanks

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 20-Oct 26,2014

I am so appreciative of all the support and the strong women out there sharing their stories. It makes me feel good to have a way to get through this with women who know what it is like in the moment. I have such wonderful support from family and friends but to have this site to gather strength from is so helpful! I am five days out from from an abdominal hysterectomy that removed 5 large fibroids ( 2.5 lbs worth! ) pain is ever present but being managed. My body certainly tells me when to rest which I do a lot of. I have had a few BM but am so gassy and that is what was most squished by fibroids so that will cause me much discomfort. I am eating well and walking loops in my house. I love my heating pad!!!!! It is a journey and a process. Lots to learn about myself and those in my life. Thank you all for your stories and support. Stay strong ladies -we can do this !!!!

You are doing great! Get the rest you need, as much as people in our lives want to visit it is strangely tiring. It is so good to get the visits and I draw strength from so normalcy of talking to someone not a doc or nurse but it is tiring. I have been encouraging my friends for the first week that I have been home to call that way I can answer when I want and talking on phone is less tiring than being in someone's presence. 😊

Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 20-Oct 26,2014

4 days post-op n getting better by the moment! Came home yesterday and just taken it easy. Have to take it easy cause the body will certainly let you know when you are over doing it. Walking is helping an awful lot. My kids are anxious to help me with water refills and other minor things but I tell them that mama need to walk for strength and healing. They're so sweet. OK back to the update; I feel much better than I did presurgery. Keep y'all posted

Finally had my first BM! Even though I am still taking Percocet, I have not had constipation. I think the water, Benefiber, and prunes helped a lot.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 20-Oct 26,2014

Day 6 and feeling incredibly better today, although there is still the ongoing constipation issue. I just managed a trip to the grocery store to get prunes and dried apricots, and walked the entire store just to see if I could. Still a little slow, but I don't feel like I'm shiffling or waddling any more when I walk!

Glad to see all you ladies are progressing as well!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 20-Oct 26,2014

Well I had my first shower today and changed my dressings on my incision sites. That has really wiped me out. Went out for the first trip out yesterday, I didn't walk far infact I sat in the truck most of the time whilst my husband went into b&q (Home Depot) for a toilet seat of all things!!! My mum has gone home today so now it's just me, my husband and 4 year old. Next week is half term so I'm definitely in for an interesting time. Let's see if my husband steps up

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 20-Oct 26,2014

I'm actually feeling pretty darn good today. I noticed last night that when dh helps me sit up to take my middle of the night meds that there was less pain. This morning I walked around the living room longer and I even started getting in the shower by myself. Still have the constipation but the stool softeners help with that

I am post op, day 2, i have been using a lightweight ice pack on my Buddha Belly,, also using jojoba oil/castor on it, it's so darn itchy..it helps.. of course not going near the stitches. Definitely feeling more deep aches, spasms, pain today. Is anyone else have a serious need to pee,,, I already had pee-pee itis,, I wonder if it's from the catheter... I'm having to get up and down a lot .. but I did sleep pretty well last night..
