Work give you problems

Hello
My surgery is scheduled for Mon the 26th. I think I am more stressed out due to the fact that work is giving me so many problems about how long I will be out and why even though due to hippa they should not even be asking the kinds of questions they are it is just so frustrating! Sorry just venting, any one else have these problems?

Work give you problems

J - sorry for what you are going through! This time is stressful enough without having to worry about work, too! Is there someone where you work you can talk to, or have your Dr. send a written letter stating the necessity of the surgery? There are definitely law out there to protect us....Family Medical Leave Act, at least! Our surgeries are a day apart - I'll be praying for you! Good luck!

Work give you problems

Hi Julie,

Sorry to hear about the problems that your employer is giving you. Have you thought about contacting the labor commissioners office? You should not have to provide your employer with anything other than the paperwork that your physician gives you stating the date of your surgery and when you are expected to return to work.

Good luck to you.

Work give you problems

I'm sorry your employer is giving you a hard time. Please let them know they don't have the right to ask you anything other than how long you will be off work. Speak to your HR department if you need to. You don't have to disclose to HR what you are having done or why either. The disability/FMLA department isn't allowed to disclose to your manager what is going on either, just the amount of time you need off. Good luck & don't take any grief from them.

Work give you problems

I have a home daycare so I dont have a boss to worry about really but I know the daycare parents are not thrilled about it. I am only taking 2 1/2 weeks off work since I don't get paid for my time off. Even then I am only taking the older kids and requesting that they do not bring their kids to me on their days off. If I didn't tell them that they would definately let me take their kids on their days off while I am recovering. My husband is going on FMLA to help me out and to take care of my three kids while I can't do it. His job gave him a hard time and made him get four different doctor notes before they would approve it. They also requested information that they were not allowed to ask for like the exact opperation I was having and things like that. He works for the State Of Texas and they seem to be able to do whatever they want even when it isn't allowed at other places of business.

Work give you problems

I am sorry you are having a problem with work.. I do know the rules are different when you have less than 50 employees so you may want to check into that before you do anything.
Good Luck

Work give you problems

Thanks all! The funny thing is that I am in HR, I am HRIS but they are just splitting hairs about everything. Part of my problem is that I felt comfortable talking to my boss in the beginning so I said more than I should have. Well today will be better than yesterday because she will not be here and it is my last word day before surgery which is Monday, woo hoo!!! The closer it get the more I seem to need to blow off steam.....I am very glad I am having this it is just that it is still major surgery and trying to keep myself still enough to heal will be a challenge.

3 days and counting till I am on the other side.......

Julie
