Surgery Tomorrow

Hi all,

I have been looking at the site for that last week or so, just figured out and got brave enough to post this. I am 51 and single, never been in the hospital before and my TAH is scheduled for tomorrow (5/31). I am overweight and have always been, but very active and no other health issues. I am hoping that my already big belly is not going to add to my discomfort or complications.

Thanks for all the good information on your experiences.

Hi

One of my biggest concerns regarding surgery was my big tummy. I'm not just *overweight*, ya know?

But I found a thread here at HysterSisters that helped me.
I'm not sure how to link you to another thread but I'll try. https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...hreadid=196531

I don't know how much weight you are concerned about. Please don't be offended that the this thread is about obesity and hysterectomy. I just thought I'd share because it helped me personally.

cbmm,

You've probably already left for the castle but just wanted to check in and let you know that I have a big tummy - and I just returned from the castle late yesterday. The big tummy didn't cause me any problems - or any problems for the docs according to them - but I do have to make sure that I get air to the incision by lifting my tummy on a regular basis. Let us know how you do!

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow. I had my surgery on May 25th and am SO GLAD that I had it done. I still have the pain from recovering but already notice some welcomed changes. I don't pee every 5 minutes during the night. I know that this pain will be gone and I won't have anymore horrible periods to deal with. I am very happy with the decision!
Just take it easy afterwards and listen to your doctor. Do you have someone to come and help take care of you after the surgery? You will need help!
