TAH/BSO - My Story

mar 2 04,,was my castle day,,,i was so relieved to get there,,after the fiasco i had w/my primary dr the day b4,,i thought she was goning to negate this necessary surgery. I lashed out at her w/a few choice words,,and said i do hope she never has to ever experience what i had to go thru,,but if she does,,think of me. anyhow,,,i got there,,and they called my name to go in for prep,,,lots of nice nurses and docs and anesthesiologist were roming around and then my doc showed up. he met my mom and hubby,,then joked around w/me. i told him and the anest. man i was nervous about anest,,should i have a epidural or knock me out. i saw my doc shake his head,,,nooo,,,have a general he said.
i had such trust and faith in him,,,and the anest man did a great job w/me,,he put something in the cocktail to make me sleepy and relax and so i wouldnt be nauseated as well. anyhow,,, igot in for surgery at around 730a ,,,woke up in recovery around 1030a,,,looked around to see all these ppl,,and the nurse was yelling at me to breathe. seems as if i wasnt breathing good enuff for them,,but i felt fine. anyhow,,i got a room immediately,,
i had a total abdominal hysto,,w/my ovaries out. to speed up the
stay,,,i had 2 days of great nurses and 1 day of hellish ones,,,they seemed to have forgotten me,,so i forced myself to walk on my own and pee and do other stuff they were rude at me about. finally i made some noise about these nurses,,that if i see them again the next day,,i will scream loudly ,,lol...anyhow,,i got great ones after that,,,they were helpful...and i even got to know other gals on the floor who had similar surgeries as myself,,so i got them out of their beds and walking the floor w/me,,,,,,the doc saw that i was so ready to go,,he discharged me right away after 3 days,,took 30 staples out of my bikini area,,and told me to go home since i was taking over the floor and taking over the nurses jobs..lol. anyhow,,,im recovering as well as to be expected,,,i had doc take pics of the fibroid,,i cannot look at it today,,,this thing was so large it plagued me for so many years,,and after having so much bleeding and finding out i had endo and adenomyosis from the patholigist report,,,i was so happy to have this out of me. i feel extreme gratefulness over the fact ,,i have my life back.
