sorry, but I need to VENT!

Is anyone else having trouble getting the time off of work?

I work in a call centre, and it is notoriously difficult to get time off (one couple ended up quitting because they couldn't get the time off to get MARRIED).

Now I've just been denied medical leave for my hyst.

which is next week.

and I found this out today.

I am sorry you have to worry about this during an already stressful time. Since it is medically necessary to have your surgery then you have to do what you have to do sadly. I would explain that it is a difficult thing to reschedule surgery and that it is a very stressful process and that you really aren't able to reschedule easily, maybe they will re-think it. Especially if you add in that if it cost your job so be it.

WOW, I would go in and explain what was going on to those incharge of this type of thing, even if you put in for it on ppaer with plenty of notice.

Not fair you should have to give up your job! My step son just had to make sure he was out so many days first to prove he was in need of his disability bennies at his job, now he can have knee surgery and they will cover stuff.

Good luck, you don't need this stress.

How awful.

If your employer has over 50 employees, then you have a right to take time off under the Family Medical Leave Act. http://www.dol.gov/esa/whd/fmla/

I am a call center manager and suggest you take this above your supervisors head if they are unwilling to fight for you. Usually the operations manager or even the director are able to grant time off even when workforce (Traffic/RTM) say no. Also, TALK TO HR. Depending on how large your company, how long you have worked there and how many hours you have worked FMLA could be the key to protecting your job.

Let me know how it goes....

Sisters-

Thanks for your support and prayers, but it boils down to the fact that I've already had 1 personal leave this year, and I have not yet worked there for a year. FMLA was denied, PLOA was denied, but at very least I am in good standing and can be re-hired after all this. I'm writing my letter of resignation tonight and my exit interview is on friday.

My supervisor fought all she could, but there's nothing they can do.

Saturday's my last day with the company I had hoped would be my last job ever

Hi Kmurph
Sorry this has happened to you, try to think of what has happened in a positive way, maybe your next job will be better and suit you down to the ground, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, so maybe you need to go to the next job that you get.
