Losing weight
Has anyone seen their soon to be recovery period as incentive to lose weight now? My sister was laid up wth a fairly long illness and I've watched her balloon up. So since I have time to wait before my visit to the castle I'm working on lossing weight now - Currently at 15 pounds lost!!! I've got a ways to go but I'm taking it at 10 pound goals.

Losing weight
I thought about trying to lose weight, than thought nah. I can't really do sit ups, the troubled area, anyway. That seems to put to much stress on the cramping areas too. And if I walked... that would bring it too! So I figured I will wait until the new year and fully recovered from my TAH!! Plus, I love christmas cookies too much to think about losing and then gaining!!!
cookies!!!
Sorry, I know you are losing weight, goodjob!

Losing weight
My stress level seems to be taking care of the problem for me. I had to try on 3 pairs of jeans las nite tofind one that fit. I finally went with a ragged 10 yrs old pair (dont worry, I wasnt skinny 10 yrs ago either LOL) , If I could just stress for 30 more lbs, I would be a happy camper.
good luck

Losing weight
Hi Karen,
A lot of us fear we're going to gain weight after this surgery. While some do, others don't. However, it's best not to start a diet right after surgery. The first week or so you might not feel like eating much but you need to eat properly to aid in the healing process. Your body needs the proper nutrients get back to par after this major event.
Many women report a reduction in their appetite which usually comes back within a few weeks. Do take care to eat well....it will pay off!!
ss
Blessings,
Judy

Losing weight
Not dieting but trying to maintain or improve physical fitness. I figure that being strong will only improve my recovery time and experience.

Losing weight
Several months ago I started eating better to lower my triglycerides which were very high. (I wasn't able to tolerate most of the cholesterol drugs.) The only real changes I made was to cut out sugar, white flour, white pasta, white rice and potatoes. I found if I don't eat them I don't miss them so much. Not only did my triglycerides go down by half, but as an unexpected bonus I lost seven pounds! My blood sugar also seems to be staying more even. I would think even if you were recovering that these changes wouldn't hurt -- it's not giving up calories or food value, it's just replacing it with some better choices.

Losing weight
I have my surgery in December and I'm trying to get in the best shape that I can until then. I can't really tell that I'm losing weight since my belly protrubes out quite a bit (I have a 16 wk uterus) but I can tell the difference in my thighs and face. I'm trying to be very mindful of what I eat and exercise 5 days a week, that way, I think, I will have an easier recovery time and hopefully, shrink back to normal sooner.
I may be wrong, but what else do I have to do until then, lol?

how long does swelly belly last. I lost 10 lbs before surgery and now I feel like a weigh a ton. Any info would be great. I will also take the advice and walk much more and eat right. Already on the right track, not so hungry now but stocked up on fruits and veggies.

Losing weight
I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead wth a LTVH in December or wait until the summer after I have (tried to) lose weight....I'm about 40 lbs overweight, and can really only expect/hope to lose 15 before the holidays. Any thoughts?

Losing weight
Hi Karen! (great name btw!)
My doctor told me at the pre-op appt on Friday that he wants me to start walking for fitness after my 2 week post op apt. No weights or other form of exercise, but he really wants me to get out and walk. Since I am a runner, that should not be a problem
I have been on Atkins since August 2003 (65 pounds gone! 40 to go) per his Insulin resistance Diagnosis and He told me that I can continue to eat the Atkins way when I get home.. in fact he encouraged it.
Ask your doctor what he recomends for his patients. Every doctor is different!
