Drinking water?

I've seen a lot of post saying that after surgury you should drink lots of water, is this for not getting dehydrated or is there another reason?

I'm not a water drinker at all, I gag when I have to drink plain water. I do however drink gallons of iced tea, decafe, at least a gallon a day, will that work for me?

Drinking water?

i hate water too, but I found drinking plain hot water worked well for me, it helped to ease tummy pains and gas, weird I know but it always went down easier than cold water. I also drank gallons of herbal decaf flavored teas. The more you drink the better, it helps to move the bowels, keeps the bladder functioning and you'll find that your not so hungrey after the surgery so drinking lots will keep you going. I would try to watch your sugar intake as you'll be resting for so many week, before you know it that weight will sneak up on you as it did for others. Good luck

Drinking water?

Well, there are lots of good reasons to drink water. Hydration, makes your skin glow and be more moist, helps prevent constipation, helps get the anesthesia out of your system, helps with digestion.....the list goes on.

But there's no law saying you have to drink just plain water. I assume you don't like it iced, either (I can't drink it straight out of the tap -- it has to be ice-cold for me). There's nothing wrong with tea, juice, coffee, pop (if you can tolerate it -- some sisters report that it makes the gas problems worse), milk -- the list goes on.

Some say that caffeine contributes to dehydration, but I've read stuff both ways. As long as you aren't drinking espresso all day long you should be OK.

I drank lots of the flavored seltzer-type water. Raspberry is my favorite.

Your system will thank you for getting the fluids. Hope this helps!
