Clots during Menstrual, is it normal?

My Gyno has informed me that I might have Andomyosis (after looking at an ultrasound). I also had Uterine Polyps, and a previous Leep Procedure. My question is, I have had a steady stream of clots during my period. They are usually small (largest one the size of a half dollar) and I can see them EVERYTIME I use the restroom, or change my pad. Are these clots normal? I dont know if I should be concerned.

Any opinions or feedback is GREATLy appreciated and helpful.

Thanks!

Re: Clots during Menstrual, is it normal?

I don't know if they're normal or not but, like you, I get a steady stream of clots during my periods too. One or two I could deal with but it seems my entire flow is clots with a little blood in between. Sorry to be gross.

Did your GYN say anything else about what he/she plans to do with the Adenomyosis?

Re: Clots during Menstrual, is it normal?

Gyno suggested I get a hysto but I think that's too drastic of a measure to take at this point in my life (im 32). My clots are pretty much black and pretty thick, so the color is pretty much what's worring me a little.

Re: Clots during Menstrual, is it normal?

Has your dr. taken blood to see where you iron level is. The problem with heavy bleeding is that they maybe accompanied with blood clots. Small blood clots or even darker in color in wouldn't be concerned. It's the size and the amount if they are larger than a half dollar there should be some concern. How long does your cycles last? That's another question. On this site there is a forum called checkpoints there are a list of questions that you may want to ask your dr. You should also consider getting a second opinion

Re: Clots during Menstrual, is it normal?

Clotting is normal, that colour is nomal, and 31 is young without due cause to have a hysterectomy. My clots were the size of my hand, but were just one of my many nasty symptoms. Sorry for the graphics.
