Re: SCARED: Hysterectomy next month for rapidly growing fibroids.
Hello,
I first had a scan Jan last year, all appointments got cancelled with COVID and by the time I got my op in Nov the fibroid had grown to the size of a small baby !
I knew it had grown because I looked pregnant!
I had total abdominal hysterectomy, I’m now almost 10 weeks post op. The biopsy was clear too.
Have you got a date for the surgery?

I just got scheduled for Feb 2. I'm definitely freaking out, but it's absolutely time to get this over with!

Bless you, try not to worry. Take each day one at a time. That helped me so much. This group is very encouraging and helpful which helped me through. I’m also a Christian and being able to
pray through it all helped me so much.

I think that the stressors of 2020 made everybody's fibroids grow faster! Glad that you have a plan and you are confident in your doctor. I had surgery and am doing well. Very large fibroids. The cancer is likely very rare, does your doctor want to do a biopsy? (They're not comfortable but could give you more peace of mind). Best wishes.

Re: SCARED: Hysterectomy next month for rapidly growing fibroids.
Thanks for the reply. I actually saw your post on another thread last night and was thinking of messaging you because it looks like you had the same surgery as me - robot with a bikini cut for large fibroids.
After reviewing everything with her radiology team and also sending me for a blood test that has been shown in limited studies to indicate sarcoma v. fibroids she feels more confident they are all benign. She will use the bikini cut so that she only has to cut the fibroids a little bit just to be extra safe, but I am feeling a lot better about that part of things.
I am *certain* 2020 grew these fibroids!! I have noticed in the last few years that my pain changes or gets worse right after very stressful times. This time my pain suddenly changed right after the election/my law school exams. They really run my life and I'm truly looking forward to them being gone, but I'm such a catastrophizer that I think only of the worst possible complications and outcomes! Ugh.
I hope you heal quickly!!

Re: SCARED: Hysterectomy next month for rapidly growing fibroids.
I have a quick question.... I was told at 8 wks to wait for intercourse and any attempt for an orgasm. (Due to cuff healing)
I had another check up at 10 wks and was told to wait for intercourse. He said tear in the cuff is extremely rare, but why take the chance. I didn't ask about having just an orgasm.
Do you think I would be okay having a clitoral orgasm? I know the vagina walls contract, so I just do not want to screw something up.

When it comes to a few topics, including outercourse/intercourse, it doesn’t matter what people on the internet/this forum think. The only authority is your doctor.
Feel free to email/phone the surgeon’s office to get an answer

Thank you, GMPS and dressupinblue,
I did today. And he said I am okay for only outercourse.
I had asked only bc it was going to be a LONG weekend. Lol

SCARED: Hysterectomy next month (2/2) for rapidly growing fibroids.
Have you looked into UTE instead of having a hysterectomy?
Uterine artery embolization destroys fibroid tissue and eases these symptoms. And it provides an alternative to surgery to remove fibroids (myomectomy). You might choose uterine artery embolization if you're premenopausal and: You have severe pain or heavy bleeding from uterine fibroids.
