Tell me about the bladder test before the hyster

I am goign to see a Urol to see what going on with my cough sneeze pee deal. Anyone done this and had the two surgeries together, what can I expect to go through for testing? My referral says voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence and for evaluation pre surgery. TIA

Tell me about the bladder test before the hyster

Your Dr might order a urodynamics test to make sure youre leaking is simple stress incontinence and not something more involved.
Stress incontinence is corrected by placing a sling under the urethra to keep it closed during stress (coughing, sneezing, running, jumping, lifting, etc).

wishing you an uneventful surgery and recovery.
take care

Tell me about the bladder test before the hyster

I had the Monarc Hammock placed 8 months post-hyst.
TVT surgery is a 'simple' surgery that only takes approx 20 minutes and if being done alone, some Dr's agree to do it while the patient is under light sedation instead of using general anesthesia. Results are usually noticed immediately post-op though some patients (approx 50%) experience some urethral swelling that warrants a catheter to remain in place until the swelling subsides allowing urine to pass.

Urodynamics is a test that checks the fuction of the lower urinary tract. Catheters are placed in the bladder, vagina and rectum. Water is then sent into the bladder and the catheters, while hooked up to a computerized machine, measure the pressure within the bladder, vagina and rectum. The patient is asked to describe the sensations felt while the bladder is being filled, and then drained (patient is asked to void into a special 'hat' thats also hooked up the computer). Some Dr's also require this test be done with video--this allows the Dr to see the bladder while its filling and emptying.
This test is painless and requires no special instructions other than possibly having to show up for the test with a full bladder.

hope this helped
