Nightmares

I don't know why but I have been having nightmares for a couples weeks now. I dream crazy things and sometimes I remember them but most of the time I don't. I can't sleep at night. I realize this is all normal but the dreams are throwing me off a bit. Monday I was ready to get it over with and anxious..today..well not so much! I read and read and read this site.. I get all sides of every "what if" to "actually happening".. It's a little alarming but I do know everyone is different. My lovely DH wasn't so lovely a month ago..then he was very sweet and now he has gone back to being a typical male.

Anyone else have dreams that are out of this world?? I had a dream about a raw chicken that I had to sit on to pee...also..I have been hallucinating. I will see a huge spider on the wall and its walking and then hiding behind nothing! Seriously though.. I am not on any meds except my thyroid medicine!

Good luck to you if you are having your surgery..and congrats to you that have already had your surgery!!

I had a similar issue. A Dr. prescribed some anti-anxiety drugs to help me relax. My dreams were related to hijacking and terrorist attacks since I had an unexpected cancer diagnosis. I don't know what the raw chicken has to do with peeing but you never know how the mind works.

Sending wishes for a successful surgery and an uneventful recovery.

Re: Nightmares

Usually the pain meds can do it to you, or the first week or two, the anethestic. I wonder if your hormones are out of whack, or if you just haven't settled from the trauma (and it is) of surgery to your body.
If you're cleared for taking baths now, try starting a calming night-time routine. Maybe a warm bath with Epsom salts (good for muscles), herbal tea, and a relaxing book while snuggled in bed would help.

If you like soft music, try falling asleep to that.

Or, essential oil-Lavender on your pillow (or a dried lavendar sachet) I hear works as well.

Best Wishes for Peaceful Slumber.

Re: Nightmares

I didn't have the nightmares post-op, only pre-op like Seymour is having.

I hope you don't end up with nightmares both pre-op and post-op.
