weight gain

Hello! I am a new member as of today and I wondered if anyone has had a problem with weight gain after their hysterectomy? I am on Vivelle Dot patch and thought maybe this was a side effect? I have gained twenty pounds in the last year. Any suggestions?

No weight gain here and believe me it's not for lack of chowing down! I certainly haven't had much exercise either, so I hope that gives you some optimism. I don't know if hormone replacement has any impact on weight, but there will be LOTS of ladies here that will have some experience with that who will know.

never thought about weight gain after the procedure . . . I have my pre-op appt with my dr next week

If you have already had your hysterectomy you might want to post your question on the Post op board for opinions from ladies after surgery. I am only 5 days past my surgery and was weighed at the Doctor's office this morning when I had my staples out and had lost 10 lbs. But I am not back to eating as much and just had a cantelope size fibroid and huge uterus removed so I'm sure alot of it was that and water weight.
