I agree Janet is fantastic! Also anything by Mary Higgins Clark for mystery.
I just finished reading The Amber Room by Steve Berry
great suspense regarding the Romanov's.
So glad you started this - I LOVE to read and can't wait to try out some of these suggestions

I have many favorite authors, but always come back to Jane Austen, and Joanne Harris ([i]Chocolat[/). Shakespeare, Octavia Butler, Zora Neal Hurston are more favorites, but a bit heavy to read during post-op perhaps! Enjoy! Happy mending.

SKINNY DIP by Carl Hiaasen is terrific! I've read half way through it in one day! I can't wait to get back to it after this posting! Any of his books are winners!
Janet Ivanovich is also a favorite! I've read just about everything that both Hiaasen and Ivanovich have written.

Have to second the Harry Potter books. They may be "children's" books but they are delightful for adults as well.

I'm currently hooked on anything by Charlaine Harris. She has several series of books out, mysteries and supernatural romances. The Augusta Teagarden books are mysteries, as are the Lilly Bard novels. Not funny but very good. The Sookie Stackhouse novels are the weird romances and they're great. The latest, "Definitely Dead", was wonderful. She's got a new series started, the first book is called "Grave Sight". I'd have to call them mysteries.
