How old is everyone?

I am 43 years old and had a TAH on March 7th so I am 5 weeks out and doing very well. I had my Hysterectomy for the reason that I had a uterine prolapse. I did not have any heavy bleeding, major pain, lond periods or endo. So I was not in pain and was very happy because of it. I actually had what I would have to describe as the best periods I could have. They would last 2-3 days with very light bleeding. I have always felt sorry for everyone who had to suffer. But the prolapse really threw me for a loop. I was at work one day and then all of a sudden I felt something falling out of me and there it was. I made an appoinment with my Dr. and was told that after my exam and an internal ultrasound that a Hysterectomy was the only way to fix the problem. I could wait a while if I would have liked but then it would start to pull other things down and out with it and then I would require more extensive surgery. So I went through with the Hysterectomy and do not regret on bit of it. I hope that everyone has the quality of life that they deserve after we have gone through with their surgery. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting.

Tink4me, I didn't have any problems either. I had huge fibroids that had to go because of size, but no heavy periods, spotting or pain. Go figure!

How old is everyone?

I am 39. I had my surgery on March 15, 2007 so I am 4 weeks out and doing pretty good. I still have a little bloody long will that last?? I had surgery for what they thought was a large fibroid but turned out to be adenomyosis....heavy bleeding and irregular periods... then for the past couple of years I had what felt like a bowling ball sitting in my finally in February I went for a diabetic checkup and said something to my dr....she did an ultra sound and sent me to the gyn.....she recommended hyster and I did not have a problem with it so we did it 2 weeks later and here I am. I am married with two boys 17 & 14.

How old is everyone?

I'm amazed that so many women here are so young! I turned 60 last year, have been married 37 years, one child, one beautiful granddaughter, had no major health problems most of my life. Then after menopause (I'm no longer on hormones of any kind) things start to fall apart! Joint soreness, hypertension, uterine prolapse, etc. The one thing I learned is that you have to keep moving if you want to stay healthy. Not looking forward to the LAVH with rectocele and cystocele repair, but it's got to be done.

I am 32 now, had my hyst 5 mths ago when I was 31. My son will be 11 years old in June. I had my tubes tied when I was 25 and it was then they found endo -- so I had it for a long time. He is an only by choice and I don't regret the hyst at all. It doesn't bother that I can't get pregnant -- rather it's a relief (I've always been terrified of an "Oops" or tubal pregnancy)! I don't feel like less of a woman -- I feel like more of a real person now!!

How old is everyone?

I'm 44, soon to be 45 and I think I'm going to cry. It seems I'm the old lady of the board!!! LOL... I had no idea everyone else was so young. I just figured everyone was around my age. Now I feel sooooooooooo old. I don't have any kids but have raised kids. Long story there. So I'm not missing anything. Gosh, I never realized so many young people had to have hysterectomies. I think I might have had one years ago to get rid of the cramps but I don't imagine any dr. would have done it back then. I'm having everything out.
My trip to the castle will be soon.

How old is everyone?

Hi EdsSis,
Another Robin on the board. My name is Robin too. My middle name is Michele. People are always adding an extra 'l" in my name, but that is okay. When I was a kid, the other kids used to ask me if I was named after that song. You know, "the red red robin goes bob bob bobbing along." I hated it. HAHA. Oh, I'm 44.

Good to meet you,

Luvs2Quilt, I am also feeling very aged in this group...I'm a week shy of 50, have been married for 30 years, and have one child, a son age 22. TAH/BSO scheduled for May 21, and I'm counting the days. I am so surprised about the young ages in this thread...I also feel old, although I am doing my darndest to keep both mentally and physically!

Robin, you are not too alone, I just turned 44! Most of my Drs. are younger than my age. One of them is exactly my age. So when I was out getting in to trouble with my friends, she was studying to be a Doctor! Oh well, I love my life anyway and glad she is the Dr. and I am not!

I used to think 40 plus is when you had "female" problems. I guess I was wrong about that!
