dVH/RALH: Going Home the same day after a hysterectomy?

Hello Ladies,
Do they really let you go home the same day after Di Vinci Robot Hysterectmyfor a large fibroid, keeping overies? Is it safe to leave so soon after This is a scary thought for me What if something goes wrong My Hospital is not that close to my house HELP !!!!

I'm having Da Vinci tomorrow and my doctor told me I would stay at least one night. I may end up being converted to an open surgery due to the size of my uterus and she said depending on that I may be there 4 or 5 days. I would say if you don't feel comfortable leaving so early talk to your doctor about the distance etc.... Also it may be an insurance thing but I think there may be ways around that too.

Hey, don't panic! Lots of us went home same day, some stay one night in hospital. I was originally scheduled to stay one night but I did so well in recovery that they let me go home. I wanted to and felt ready to go home. It all depends on the time of day your surgery is - they will monitor you and won't let you go home if they don't feel you're ready (ie pain under control, you can void, etc). Believe me when I say if you can, you'll feel better sleeping at home - no hospital noises, lights, etc to keep you awake.

I had tah, and my dr required me to stay one night, but I would have GLADLY gone home the same day as surgery. I was really feeling fine and hated being in the hospital.

I wish I could go home the same day but I will be staying for at least one night and praying that I am not converted to a full abdominal surgery. I left early from the c-sections, but I have a feeling this will be different.

I am also having the Da Vinci surgery and my doctor said I would go home the same day. I sure hope so!

Good luck today girls!!!!! Hope it all goes well and you're back home in your own beds tonight! I had the da vinci last week. My dr would've let me go home the same day, but I have a very obnoxius puppy so felt one night in the hospital was a good idea. No pain the night of surgery. I was elated! Hope yours go as well!!!
