Good Luck on the IV! lol I asked if Vodka was considered a "clear liquid" the day before my surgery and didn't get an OK on that one either... ;-)

YES!!!! I asked if alcohol counted as a clear liquid too!!!! Of course I was joking, but goodness, something to get through that bowel prep would be good. LOL!

Worst case they said they'd have to give m a transfusion if it was too low.
That's very encouraging. My hemoglobin was at 7.5 before I started the IV iron infusions (daily), along with and iron-rich diet and Lysteda. I'm really hoping the five iron infusions I've had so far will show sufficient increase in the levels that they won't feel the need to postpone surgery. Guess I'll know by tomorrow!

Let me know how it turns out! I would think you'd be fine especially if you are gettng iron IV. Glad my doc didn't suggest that - I think the IV is wha scares me the most.

What number will make them happy?

They'd like to see me at 10 (or above), but I'm not sure if that's an absolute requirement or not. I'll ask at the pre-op today.

And yeah, I'm not a big fan of needles and am not loving the daily IVs... but I'll do anything to make this surgery happen on schedule. I am SO ready to be done with all this and on the road to recovery!

Queenie - That's funny you said that because I had forgotten until you wrote this that they gave me something to relax right before I went into surgery. I just remember the guy saying to me when I asked what they were going to give me... "Well, you are old enough to remember valium right? It's just like that!". I don't remember anything after that so apparently it worked! lol

That is one nice thing about if you are nervous while you are preparing to go into surgery... they are great about giving you something to help you relax if you need it. And I really didn't think I was that nervous either.

Re: A week to go and I am jumping out of my skin

My surgery is also August 9. Experiencing panic attacks too, especially at night.
I called my surgeon with dozen of questions. He was very thorough in his answers and very patient with me. Talking with him made me feeling better and every time I feel anxious I remind myself our conversation.
Taking care of my house and also planning fun activities (little trips) for after the surgery help too.
Warmest thoughts!
