Hyst and tummy tuck

How are you getting your insurance to pay for it? Mine has been noted as a medical necessity also, but no luck yet.

Hmm....maybe I should work a little harder on this??

Hyst and tummy tuck

I'll know for sure when I consult on Aug. 23.

My guess is that it's because of the actual volume of the organ(s) being removed. I have to admit, I did have a small scare when they said they had to get insurance approval.

But in my case, it's clearly not vanity or cosmetic in nature, since I'm already overweight. It's just going to get me into a better proportion.

There's also another procedure known as a panniculectomy, which basically takes off your front stomach rolls...... the stuff that hangs over your, well, female areas (for lack of a more PC term, sorry). I think that may be what I'm getting. I did a little research and that seems to be what people who are already overweight get.

I am overweight already, but my fat is definitely concentrated between my tummy and my upper thighs. I've posted this before -- I look very lopsided from a side view and I know my posture has been suffering.

I'll keep you updated on this developing story!

What part of Missouri?

Hi, I'm from Blue Springs MO and was looking into having a tummy tuck first and then I had my annual pap and now have found that I have two large fibroid tumors and several smaller ones. I have a gyno appt next week and will find out what options I have. I'm happy to hear that both surgeries can be done. Anxious to hear more.

Hyst and tummy tuck

Hi Glove -- Definitelycheck into it if you want both surgeries. I was hesitant at first to have them at the same time and had a long telephone conversation with my gyno about it. He said if a tummy tuck is something you definitely want to pursue, then it's best to have it done at the same time as the hyst. He said unless I just wanted to have two separate surgeries and thus two separate recoveries, it was easier on the body to just go through it one time.

In my case, he was right. Granted recovery time was a little longer perhaps than those who just have a hyst, but I'm so happy I had the tt done too. I'm about nine weeks post-op and feeling wonderful. I'm not back 100% to my level of energy I had before, tire out easier, and I still can't bend or squat down comfortably and completely like to clean the corners of the bathroom and kitchens floors, etc., but that will come at time goes on.

Good luck at your gyno appointment! Feel free to email me if you want more info on the tummy tuck.

Hyst and tummy tuck

I had my hyst and Tummy Tuck w/lypo in July.
It was the best thing I have every done. I feel like a teenager but better.
After looking like a pregnant women for the past couple of years its so great. My fibroids and uterus were so big that I looked more awful than usual. I felt old, ugly, tired and had to go pee all the time plus the added grief of having a very heavy period almost all the time.

My stomach just hung after my first child 21 years ago. Buying pants to hide it was tough. Worse was panties - my stomach if the were high cut -my stomach hung below on both sides

Now I am 10 weeks post op and I have bought a little bikini panties. How cool after all these years!
Skirts that I never could have worn bescause you would have seem my dropping tummy now look sexy on me.

The surgery and recovery are tough. I had fluid drained for 6 weeks after my drains were removed. I had to wewear a very tight compression girdle 24 hours a day for 9 weeks. But it has been so worth it. I scar is long but my stomach is so tight and flat its just crazy!!!

WOW

That sounds great! I can't wait.... So, how are you feeling with the hyst? Did you have everything removed? I still need to get to the gyno which will be this coming Thursday. It's so good to hear from you.. The best thing about having them both done at the same time is that you feel like you get a bonus! A new tummy.

Hyst and tummy tuck

I forgot to add that I got the OK to start running (indoors not outside). I used to run a few years ago until my troubles started.

So last week at 9 weeks post of I ran twice.
It was such a great feeling.
No stomach to flop about and no urge to pee. I ran the second time for 15 minutes straight slow but constant. Yeah! I walked 20 + everyday of my recovery (after my drains were removed at 2 1/2 weeks post op) girdle and all and boy was I feeling hot and uncomfortable.

I wasn't thin to start off but I lost 13 pounds of fat from my stomach and lympo on the sides (flanks) and other 14 pounds just seemed to melt off me since my surgery. For a total of 27 poinds since July 9th.
But my legs are fat so now I am totally focused on them.
I wish I had been in running shape when I had my surgery because my legs were firm and looked good but I can hopefully get that look back.

I went from a size 20 pants to a size 14. Plus now the pants that I used to wear with the front pleats that go to my waist just don't look right on my new body. I am short and now with a flat stomach hip huggers look best on me since I don't have anything to cover with the pleats it just looks baggy.

Hyst and tummy tuck

Hi Scaaty -- Boy, it's been a while since I've posted. After recovery, life got crazy -- still is, but I guess that can be a good thing. I was excited to see that you are from Louisville. So am I. My surgery was just a little over a year ago. If you didn't read the whole thread, there's some pretty detailed descriptions of my surgery and recovery.

A year out I'm doing great, both from the hyst and the abdominoplasty. I was sore for a good six months. Of course, it was a gradual decrease and not anything terrible, but the soreness lasted much longer than I expected. Things were just tender inside for quite a while.

My tummy still has a numb circle about the size of a small dessert plate, centered around my belly button. I've gotten used to it for the most part, although I still find myself unconsciously with my hand(s) kinda feeling around on the numb part when I'm relaxing on the couch. So if it stays that way, that's okay. That's certainly better than the fat that used to be there! ha ha If you want to chat more in detail, send me a private email. <Oops! e-mail address removed for privacy concerns per website guidelines.
