Drinking alcohol

How long after surgery and even before is it ok to have a glass of wine or a beer as and as long as I am not on pain meds

My post/pre op instructions said nothing the week before - and nothing until 7 days after narcs.

My doctor told me no alcohol two weeks prior and no alcohol four weeks after. Everyone's doctor is different on instructions and restrictions. The alcohol restriction doesn't bother me since I am not a drinker. Ask your doctor.

Mine said none 1 week before and 1 week after my last pain pill as well, but you might want to double check with your doctor just in case.

I had a glass of champagne 2 days after my surgery... to celebrate the start of new beginnings!
You know your body, for me i stopped the pain meds after a week and enjoyed a glass of wine two or three days later... just take it steady! but for me it helped me relax and feel a bit like my old self (it sounds like i having a drinking problem - i dont honest!)

I don't have a drinking problem but yeah I enjoy a glass of wine helps to take the edge off and honestly I would rather a glass of wine than take a pain pill

I had a few cocktails during my recovery and was fine. I was off my pain meds on day three. The anesthetic stays with you for weeks. If you are experiencing any confusion, forgetfulness or trouble concentrating I would not add alchohol.
