How much time should i take off work?

Hi could someone please tell me what the best amount of time is to take off of work to recovery after a TVH. I work with small children in a nursery and i do alot of heavy lifting. My job is asking me how long i am going to be gone for also how long will i need someone at home with me for also when can i start walking my children to school because i wont be able to drive, this is going to be a big problem for me as my husband works shifts at work thanks Tracey x x

Tracey
I was told 6 weeks for return to work, like hesperis, until they knew i teach infant children and how physical that is. Once they knew that i was recommended 12 weeks and my GP didn't argue at all, she wrote the whole sick note in one go. You are lucky to be here in England, it seems more generous. I would definitely ask for 12 weeks if I were you. Apparently the internal healing is the same (mine was LAVH) whatever type of hyst you have.

Driving- the physio said not to until i felt able to comfortably. If it is under six weeks you need a specila doc note for insurance. i waited for 6 weeks as I was worried about emergenct stops and so on before than. Sorry, did you ask this???

walking to school- proabably fine after a week or so see how you feel, walking is recommended as good exercise

Excuse typing errors, off to work and in a rush!

How much time should i take off work?

Hi Tracey

I had a TVH on 3.28.06. Even @ 2wk F/U appt. Dr restricted my lifting up to 2gal' of milk instead of only 1 gallon. Even at the end of time off of work ( 6 to 8wks for me) there will still be some lifting restrictions. Maybe you can ask like marianni did, because lifting of children may be way too much even @ 6 to 8 wks.

I don't know how far your walk is to walk your children to school, but you may need some assistance on that if it is a very long walk (at least the first wk or so). I was released to drive at my 2wk F/U appt but your release may be different.

Hope all goes well for you.
