Re: 6 weeks and still waiting and getting freaked out

Welcome Wobbieca! It took me about a week to get the actual date, then they moved it on me! They have to get approval from your insurance and sometimes that can take a bit of time.

Honestly, the waiting was the hardest part, the pain for me has not been bad at all, more soreness then anything ( everyone is different though)

My advice would be to read these boards (DONT READ POST OP BOARDS) they are chock full of helpful info Also the pre op info on this site has been wonderful.

Good Luck!

Re: 6 weeks and still waiting and getting freaked out

It took about a month for the insurance to approve the surgery. Then the nurse said they had several surgeries before me to schedule so I picked a date two months out that fit my work/life schedule and they went with it. I think it helped them with their side and I didn't have to wait for them to tell me when which helped me give my employer plenty of notice. I have now mapped out my time-off schedule and preparing my boss for my surgery. There will be lots of work she will have to handle without me.

Re: 6 weeks and still waiting and getting freaked out

I didn't have much time when I found out about my hysterectomy. When I found out I needed one I had it three weeks later. My doctor was the one who chose the date . I can tell you that those three weeks was the worst of my life. I have never been so scared but if I know then what I know now then I wouldn't of been scared. Surgery went by so quick. I didn't even realized I had surgery until I saw my nurse. I don't remember going to sleep. I am 15 days post op and feel great. It's worth it! Hysterectomies are very common. Women go through this all the time and very happy with the results. I have talked to many women who had hysterectomies and every single one of them said "Best decision I ever made". Your doing this to better yourself. Everyone is always nervous before surgery. Waiting was the worst part. Surgery to me was easy and so far recovery is too but I still take it easy even though I feel like I haven't had surgery. We are all here for you and you can do this!
