Unfortunately, I let my FP doc tell me it was just bowel. And he didn't pick up on the fact that my uterus was enlarged during my pelvic exam. I can see the swelling because it's all on the left side (so when I look down at it my abdomen is very distorted). Wish I had trusted my instincts sooner and followed-up with a GYN. Even though I had fibroids surgically removed 10 years ago, it never occurred to me that was the problem. I requested and had a colonoscopy in Jan because I was afraid it was colon cancer (that's how swollen the left side is).

It also never occurred to me that my back pain and low energy were also connected to this. It's funny how things sort of creep up on you. I think I was in major denial.

Can't wait to get this done and over with. I keep fantasizing about how much this is going to improve my physical well-being (once I'm through the long recovery process).

I suspect you guys might know how happy that made me

What you're feeling might very well be in your heads - I think mine probably was - but the effects (no matter the cause) are very real. AND, even though I have a number of protruding disks for which I'm on a pretty strong opioid, even THAT pain has diminished since my hyster - so I'm sure many, if not most/all of you, will feel MUCH better post op.

So .. start your engines, the countdown is ON, princesses

My Dr. thinks I have endo and adneomyosis and possibly some adhesions from my 3 previous C-Sections. I know my one fibroid is pressing on my bladder so maybe this one is growing larger?? I am sure my anxiety about having the surgery is not helping either!! What does your disc pain feel like?? My Dr. thinks my enlarged uterus is causing my lower back pain but he said he can't promise the surgery will cure that. I am hoping that it does!!!! Thanks again for your response. Hugs.

Thanks to all for their thoughts! I truly thought it was "just me". Loving that there are others feeling the same affects. Best of luck to each of you!

Re: I need help from my Sisters!!

hahahaha Torifrog, I guess I am, though I'm a safe stalker--I'm recovering and can't be too far from my cough pillow and a comfy chair!

CapeMay, before you know it Dec 1st will be here and you can say bye bye to all that pain and pressure!!

Hi again Sue

It's a long story (aren't they always) - but it started with right hip pain. I was sent for an US and diagnosed with bursitis. That was rested/treated, but the pain in the hip continued, and started radiating down the back of my right leg to the knee, and across to my waist. Eventually - after being put on Tramadol, which didn't help much - I was sent for an MRI and 4 bulging disks were found - T12 to L3 (only 2% of all bulging disks are located that high - lucky me!). I was sent for an ultrasound guided spinal nerve injection, but that only gave relief for 2 weeks... so eventually I went to a pain specialist who put me on slow release hydromophone and sent me to a 3 week pain clinic, which gave my life back. THat whole process took a little under two years - two not fun years!!

Without the drug, everything aches terribly from my waist down, and especially down the back of my right leg, at about a level 7-8. Standing, sitting, lying - it just hurts. Moving causes stabbing pains, particularly down the leg. I am now unable to walk much past about 50metres/yards because of shooting pain down the leg (even WITH the drugs), so I use a walking stick and/or a mobility scooter depending on how far I might need to travel. But for the most part, without the painkiller, the pain remains centred on my back at waist level.

I hope that answers your question.

Re: I need help from my Sisters!!

Over the years I have developed a handful of strange pains and such. Now that I am post-op, I am totally geeked about figuring out what the hyst solved that I didn't expect!
