emotions running high?
So, here I am, scheduled for a LAVH on April 10th, and while I'm cooking dinner I suddenly start crying over moving into this next phase of my life. I know it is kind of sentimental but is this normal?

Suzette, I think it is. I'm sure others will post too on how emotional of a time it is. I feel like I have been floating around here for weeks now. Some days I'm totally okay with it, some days I want to cry, some days I want to throw things and some days I want to go get in bed and not get out until July. And some days I feel all those things in the same hour! It's hard, I would have never guessed this would be this hard. I think you need to just be patient with yourself and get as much support as you can. I'm sentimental too, I don't like getting rid of greeting cards from 2 years ago, much less my uterus!
This site is wonderful. I'm sure others will share their crying stories too.

emotions running high?
When I was about 2 weeks pre op, my boss called me because he heard I let a student take an exam in another room early because her son had an automobile accident ( I am a professor). This is no big deal but I just started to cry on the phone. My boss did not know what to do, he was very nice to me after that.

I'm also schedule to have an TAH and 9 times out of 10 my ovaries removed on April 10. Trust me, you are not alone. This past Friday was my bad day and I've had at least two to three a week in the past.
I've just tried to keep myself busy which keeps my mind off of the future surgery. I know what I'm doing is the right thing, but lately I've even question my decision about surgery. For some reason all of a sudden my pain isn't as bad as it use to be, etc. (all just excuses) I've found this web site so extremely helpful, I'm on it at least twice a day and especially before I retire for the night. It's just good to know that there are other's out here that are going through the same things and understand how you feel. I try not to discuss my upcoming surgery with others because I don't want people to think I'm being a wimp, so posting here is like my safe zone and I know that someone will care.
Hang in there, just think we will be on the other side soon.

Sisters, Thanks for uplifting me. Lately my kids look at me strange because one minute I'm laughing, the next I'm crying. I've had other surgeries before, but none have been this difficult to wait for. I keep wondering if I'm doing the right thing, but inevitably something will happen to reassure me that I am. I swear sometimes I'm my own worst enemy! I will be very happy when they wheel me into the o.r. and add some of that "happy juice" to my i.v. I love this web site and look forward to being on the other side of things. Thanks again!

Oh my gosh- I had to reply again because I know just what you mean about the symptoms not seeming "so bad...." The last episode of bleeding I had I was like"Well this wasn't so bad, maybe I really don't need the surgery. Maybe I have been exaggerating how bad things have been. I probably convinced my doctor I needed this....on and on! Of course, then I went to see my ob for a pre-op visit and after looking at my charting for the past 50 days she was like "oh yeah, I think its time". So, yeah, I know JUST what you mean! So April 10th is just around the corner for both of us. I will keep you in my prayers. It is very comforting to know that the very day I go in, so doesn't a number of other people that I can actually keep in touch with. Very cool!

April 10 hystersisters
I had to reply to you April 10 hystersisters because it is the day I was born. I had a TAH/BSO on January 8 of this year. It has been 11 weeks. I too was scared and questioned my decision. I too took solace in this wonderful site of women who care about each other and know what we are going through. I want all of you to know that I had a textbook recovery as far as the surgery goes. My incision looks wonderful and I had no complications. I did have emotion, and now I am in full blown menopause and trying to sort out what is best for the hot flashes. I did as the doctor ordered and did not lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for the first six weeks. You must take care of yourself and not overdo anything. Relax, watch TV, sort out paperwork, shred old papers, read a book, clean out a junk drawer (do not lift it tho!!) and pamper yourself. The first two weeks it hurts to lift yourself from a laying down position but it gets better after that. Enjoy your time slowing down life for awhile, it stinks when it is time to go back to work!! Anyway, my thoughts are with all of you and my prayer is for your speedy and full recovery. Spring is here and know this site and all of us are here for you anytime of day or night. Peace, Parkkola

parkkola- Thank you for the wonderful advice! And happy birthday in advance I am looking forward to getting some rest. I guess you don't realize how much your system is taxed with all of this until you finally stop for a minute and take inventory of how bad (and tired )you really are feeling. I pray that you continue with a healthy recovery!

Suzette, I am thinking of you. Remember to take care of YOU, nothing is worth comprising your recovery. Take your pain meds and take your time. Trust me, the six weeks of rest are worth it for most people. The reason you are having it is to have a better quality of life after and that is what I wish for you!! Keep your thoughts and spirit on that avenue of positive thinking. Hope you have friends and a good support sytem at home, it helps if you have help so you won't worry.

Park, I want to have that textbook case too! My surgery is Wed. and I want to be home by Friday, end of story! I know I might be setting myself up for disappointment, but I hate to be away from home. I don't mind vacations, but I have never liked being in the hospital. I've never been treated badly there, I just don't like them. I will do everything they tell me, and if they do make me stay another day, I will just hope that leads to a speedier recovery. My birthday is the 9th and all I want for my birthday is to be home and feel decent. My Mom will be here and I haven't got to spend my birthday with her in over 20 years, so that will be a treat in itself.
I woke up in tears yesterday and felt this doom and gloom feeling. Today I am feeling better and making lists and going to get busy. I love this site and it has helped me so much. Everyone has had a different experience, but we are all the same in so many ways.
Happy Birthday Park and best wishes Suzette! When I get home from the Castle I'll let you know how it went.
Have a great day!
Sandra
