Hello to all my sisters! So I am now in week four and doing much like many here it seems. Good things, not so good. I feel basically normal really and have been doing everything I did pre-op pretty much including grocery shopping, household chores, laundry, heavy lifting and such (except no sex yet since I was told nothing in vagina until after next appt). So I am back to my pre hyst life and return to work tomorrow.
My main issues are two. First, my bowels are not right. I either am constipated or am having diarrhea to the point that I am constantly doing laundry with all the gross bed linens and clothes no matter how fast I run at the first hint of anything. And of course it hurts although nothing like the first two weeks. I stopped softeners and now after three days of diarhhea I have stopped for the most part but now am worried about hard stools and constipation and when do I start softeners again? Or maybe I should wait and just do Milk of Magnesia if nothing for a few days? I know this isn't the place to ask questions so if I haven't figured it out in a few days, will post it as a question.
Second issue is work and I guess life. I really enjoyed my time off (other than the pain and physical part) and really, really, really do NOT want to go back to work.....EVER! I want to stay home which of course cannot happen. I want to stay home and keep house which is so against my personality of my entire life. I want to cook and clean and care for family like I want all the kids to move back in (they are all grown and wonderful, independent adults). Like what the bleep is this about? I have been an executive woman for years but I could soooooo retire right now and not miss it a bit.
I may post this as a question, if anyone else had a personality change? I have the best hubby and have been so in love with him but now it is intensified even more.....in every way, emotionally, psychologically and physically. I like the change in me. I have more energy than I have had in some time (although I wouldn't say I am sprightly or anything) and love life and am very positive and happy. Just want to stay home and become a homemaker now.
So that is my update for this week, will see what week five brings......always an adventure, right? Thanks for all the support, don't know how I would have gotten through this without all my sisters!

Whoa, hystergo. Good for you! Sadly, I seem to be experiencing the complete opposite... could quite happily go off and live on my own somewhere - fed up with worrying about everyone else.
Pain again this morning. Will take ibuprofen when I can get myself into gear. Have wasted an hour on laptop this morning messing about, not achieving anything much. Need to get some OU work done! Nows it's my brain I need to get into gear!

Good Morning Sisters,
Well, I am starting into my 4th week. I sure am slow getting going in the morning these days. I seem to have more pain in the morning these days, but it gets better after I walk. And, since inquiring minds want to know, hubby and I did a bit of "outercouse" last night and it was wonderful. No pain and yes, the big question was answered, I can!
Karen, how is it going with hubby out of town? Jenn, how is the kitty?
Happy recovery day today!

Happy Monday!
Good morning girls:
I just love reading your posts when I get up in the morning. It's something I really look forward to, and I'm never disappointed.
hystergo: Sorry to hear about the bowel troubles. Be careful with the Milk of Magnesia. There's a fine line between taking too much and taking enough. Due to your diarrhea, I might hold off on the MofM. I'm taking Citracel every day and it seems to keep things moving pretty well. Also helps that I'm only taking Vicodin occasionally. As far as wanting to stay home full-time, I must say that it is absolutely wonderful. Although I'm not necessarily home by choice, I've tried to make the best of it and I'm really enjoying it. No stress; don't have to be anywhere on a daily basis at a particular time; more sleep; more time to relax. However, the downside is getting depressed, limited social interaction, not feeling as though you have a purpose, financial concerns, fear that DH doesn't feel you are pulling your own weight and, at times, complete and total boredom.
Way Out West: Hubby is still getting himself together so he can get on the road. He does a lot of work from home, and there are constant interruptions due to phone calls. He'll probably be out of here within the next couple of hours. I'm actually looking forward to having some time to myself, without feeling as though I am neglecting him. Thanks for asking. Oh, and congrats on the "outercourse" success. Glad to hear everything is working OK. :bigwink:
Onwards: In my humble opinion, spending time on the laptop is NEVER a waste of time. I just love my new laptop and relish the time I can spend on it. It's OK to relax and do something you enjoy, even if you aren't "accomplishing" anything. We are so goal-oriented, aren't we? I suppose it's the human condition.
I woke feeling a little groggy today. We ate horribly yesterday, and I always pay the price the following day. You'd think I'd have learned by now, but no such luck.
Slight twinges, as someone mentioned earlier, but otherwise pain level is low. I'm still experiencing cloudy urine, mostly first thing in the a.m., and pain around the IV site. Otherwise, I'm feeling well. Dare I say that I believe my fatigue has improved overall since the surgery.
As far as the rest of the day, I'm planning a walk and Chinese food for dinner. I may also spend time in the office making more jewelry for the upcoming show at the end of April. I'm really feeling that pressure more and more as we get closer to April. Where has this month gone?
Happy Healing!

Hello to All,
Starting week 5 today, feeling not too bad. I did not take any painkillers yesterday and tryed not to last night, so I had a VERY twingey and swelly belly then gave in and took one tylenol around 2:00 am. But I had imsomnia anyway so I probably should not have bothered. Got to sleep around 4:30 AM and got up aroud 10:30 this morning feeling nice and groggy. I keep saying I'm going to start setting my alarm again and get myself out of this nighowlishness, so I think I'll do that tonight.
My whole belly area is felling pretty good this morning and I seem to be getting my appetite back in the mornings again. I feel that recovering from the anesthetic and taking so many painkillers was the reason for my lack of appetite the last 4 weeks so I'm glad to be getting past that now.
Wishing you all a great day

This nightowlish thing is a bit odd. I would rather go to bed at 2am and get up at midday, but no such luck here. Mind you, last two days, I've fallen asleep on the bed, once at 7pm and today at midday. The other evening I fell asleep in the armchair after dinner, which I don't think I have ever done in my life! Not even after having had the kids.
Am feeling tired now though (10pm) but doesn't necessarily mean I'll sleep.
Happy recovery sisters.

I woke up around 4:30 this morning with a sharp, stabbing pain in my lower left quadrant. If I laid on my left side, or sat in a reclining position, it wasn't too bad. But standing up, walking, and esp. doing anything (like peeing! Lol!) that involved taking away the support of my support underwear, and that sucker hurt! I took a prescription naproxen sodium, then a half-hour later ended up adding a Darvocet! Ugh. When my doctor's office opened, I called them. My doc said sometimes this happens at this point in recovery, because you get more mobile, you can do more, and you end up doing too much and pulling a muscle! Yikes. So she said rest, heat, continue pain meds as necessary, add ibuprofen to the mix if I need to, call back if it doesn't resolve in a couple of days.
So, I've done nothing all day, but it is feeling better!

Welcome to the "Land of Doing Nothing." It's a wonderful place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
Sorry to hear you are struggling with pain. Sounds like you are doing everything you're supposed to though. Hang in there -- it will get better.

Hi Everyone!
Hope you all had a good Easter. We had a busy day visiting my husband's family on Saturday. It was about a 45 minute drive and it didn't bother me too much. I really enjoyed being out in the sunshine watching the kids hunt the eggs. Yesterday, we had lunch with my family after church and by the time I got home, I was exhausted. I slept really well and today, I had my son take me to get some groceries since he's out of school for spring break. By now, I think I've done too much. I am in alot of pain and in fact the worse pain in a few weeks. Took a hydrocodone and will rest for the remainder of the day.
I go for my post-op visit on April 1st. I'm really concerned about whether or not he says I can go back to work. He said some of his patients are ready by 4 weeks and some take longer. I'm going to have to greatly improve before I feel like I can go back. I'm sure he'll let me tell him what I think about it. Just kind of nervous about going back and being able to sit at my desk all day.
I hope you all have had a great day and have not done too much as I have. Take care.

Thanks!
I have a feeling I'm going to be struggling with doing too much tomorrow. I know I need to go to the grocery store, and have a habit of overdoing it when I do that. I'm just going to have to make a list and stick to it!
