sshae's Vaginal Hysterectomy Story

sshae's Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Story

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
Age at Surgery 41
Location: Conway/South Carolina/USA

I had carcinoma in situ (stage 0) progressing to stage 1 for the second time in 10 years. First time was cervical, second it has spread to just inside uterus and was infecting polyps which is very unusual.
My period never ended. I bled for almost 5 months straight and was becoming very anemic. Dr. Considered ablation but knew it would not address the pending cancer situation. LAVH was scheduled.

LAVH was done. I kept my ovaries as I was only 41. They were very small and shrinking but still functioning.
I stayed in the hospital for 2 days. I had constant problems with my heart rate and breathing after surgery. Heart rate dropped to 12 beats per minute, 4 - 5 breaths per minute. Alarms went off all day and night.

Recovery was slow and painful. I had adhesions and severe stomach pain. Incisions healed fast with no issues . I was extremely tired, no energy and no strength for a long time.
I had no labido of any kind, difficulty with orgasm afterwards.

After 3 1/2 years, I still have no energy, decreased strength and feel tired frequently. When trying to lift or carry things, I still have bad abdominal pain.
No more periods...yea! No more issues with cancer so far. Still no labido though.

I'm glad I had it done but it changed my life 100 percent..and not all good.

Only have it done if absolutely necessary. Research ALL other possible treatments first and be prepared for it to change your life. It can't be undone and you can't change your mind after. You may be one of the lucky ones that return to a normal life and you may not. Everyone is different.
