Re: My son's response to my upcoming surgery

All replies are adorable and while I was reading, I looked over at my little feller. I remember me and my husband talking to him about my surgery a week before my surgery and we had to prepare for me to come home. We all worked together with cleaning and preparing the house for my recovery so that when we all got home, we could relax for a few days without worry of a dirty house, dishes, clothes or anything. He was a real trooper and is still to this day. 1w 2d later he still asks what he can do to help. Mind you, he is 4. He tells me every morning to take it easy and he will be home soon to do whatever I need him to. When he gets home, he runs to the house, shucks his backpack, finds me and loves on me for a while and asks if I need anything. He worries about me from what his teacher texts me throughout the day. She says he talks to her and the Aide and tells his friends about mommies tummy hurt and how is a big helper. I look at him and it brings tears to my eyes because I see such a big big boy in little britches. I complain about it getting on my nerves here and think it sometimes, wishing he would just go play and leave me alone. The truth is, next to my husband, he is my hero. My rock and my inspiration to help get through a bad day.

Re: My son's response to my upcoming surgery

I tried to hide my surgery for as long as I could. I finally told my 14 year old and he was quite concern. I explained it and he was concerned it was something to do with cancer. I told him no it's my fibroids. The evening before my surgery he helped me prep things and I gave him a do to list in the morning. We have 2 dogs that need to be walked in the morning, so he got up extra early and took care of that before school. I feed them before I left and when I was in recovery he made me promise to text him I was ok. From the moment I came home and during the whole 3 day weekend he was my nurse. He slept on the floor next to my bed and anytime I moved he got up to see if I needed his help. He was the best and I couldn't have done it without him. My 2 dogs never left my side unless they had to use the bathroom. I was being pampered. I got scolding when I went into the kitchen but I was mobile and ok to walk around. When he went back to school, it was a rude awakening. I cried thinking I would be alone! But with my 2 girls (dogs) at my side I made it through the day. My son texted me to see how I was doing too! That really made my day better. Now it's just me and the girls and they understand mom can't take them on their regular walks but they kind of like the snugging. LOL
