Afternoon surgery??

My surgery is scheduled at 1pm - the doctor told me to make sure I am well hydrated the night before and not just water - Gatorade or something with electrolytes. But nothing to drink after midnight - I know I will be starving

Afternoon surgery??

My surgery is 1pm as well...NPO after midnight. I'll be a thirsty, grumpy mess! Especially bad b/c I am on a medication that as a side effect makes you thirsty, so it's going to be doubly bad! Also, I'm kinda nervous about the IV. I'm a hard stick anyway, and with being dehydrated...who knows?! When I had my colonoscopy I was very dehydrated and the only place they could find a vein was the top of my foot. Not an experience I care to repeat!!!

Afternoon surgery??

I was told to drink as much as possible before midnight so that the veins would be easier to find for the IV. My veins disappear when a needle gets near them ever since I had my children.

Afternoon surgery??

Hey sisters

Thanks for all the support. I have thought about the afternoon surgery and think that it really is not that big a deal....I would rather sleep in a bit and piddle on the computer. I will be glad when the castle thing is all over, I must admit.

Hoops Coach, Burlington, hey....upon my return from surgery, I will be working in your town.....

To all my fellow sisters who are having surgery over the next week or so, I will include you in may prayers...that we all have smooth and uneventful recoveries...

Remember the virtual handholding as we all go under, I certainly will.
