Vaginal Hsyt for large fibroid
Hi Steffie,
I'm 8 days post op from a vaginal hyst for a large fibroid (7cm). My uterus was also enlarged 3 times its normal size, which I'm going to guess is about the same size as a 12 week pregnant uterus. My Dr. felt very sure it could do it vaginally after doing a ultrasound and a internal exam. As I understand it, there are a lot of factors involved as to if it can be done vaginal or otherwise. The skill of the surgeon is probably a big factor.
Best wishes for your upcoming event, I hope that it works out so you can have it vaginally. Comparing other abdominal surgeries I've had, this has been much less pain and I'm recovering faster. I went back to work today, (half day). I can honestly say it hasn't been nearly as bad as I expected. I wish a speedy and fast recovery for you!

Vaginal Hsyt for large fibroid
Hi Bonita - I'm happy your recovery is going well, but I do think that 8 days post op is a little to early to be returning to work, even if it is only half days. Please be careful--although yours was tvh you've had just as much stitching and cutting inside as the tah gals. Even if you have a desk job, sitting for prolonged periods of time isn't always a good thing. Just be careful not to overdo. I'm sure you've seen it said here before, you only have one chance to heal right. Best wishes,

I agree, going back to work at 8 days post op is stretching it a bit. I think you should be concerned with healing properly. My doctor told me that he refused to release anyone for work until at least 6 weeks post op and then ONLY after he had seen the patient for a post op check up.
Please be very careful. Setbacks are not uncommon, and I would hate to see you over do and cause yourself harm.
