Re: Almost 2 years post op

If the pain causes you not being able to walk or stand, I’d recommend checking with your doctor.

For weight management, it is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition, so changing food habits such as eating home cooked meals of vegetables and lean protein, no processed foods/sugar/sugary drinks should help a lot

Re: Almost 2 years post op

Do you have endometriosis? That can come back after a hysterectomy.

Re: Almost 2 years post op

Pain bad enough to interfere with walking or standing 2 years post-op is not typical. Did this just start?

The causes could be many, from prolapse to ovarian cysts (you don't mention whether you kept your ovaries), from adhesions to endo as suggested, from other pelvic issues to unrelated GI issues. The best thing to do is see your doctor and get a diagnosis or a referral to a specialist so that a plan of action can be mapped out.

Please update us when you can.

Thank you everyone who replied. I don't have my ovaries sorry i didn't say. And this started about 6 months ago. I didn't have endo before my surgey. I had a tumor on my left ovary which was thought only a cyst. Turned out stage 1 cancer. They got it all at the time of surgery according to my doc. Looks like I'll be making an appointment. Thank you all.

Re: Almost 2 years post hysterectomy in pain again

Ignoring pain for 6 months isn’t good.
I’m so glad you got an appointment. Please, take care of yourself.

Re: Almost 2 years post hysterectomy in pain again

I agree that seeing your gyn would be best so you can determine the cause for your discomfort. I will say that those same symptoms in my case (one year post-hysterectomy) turned out to be pelvic floor weakness and bladder prolapse. Seeing a specially trained, female pelvic floor therapist (referral from my gyn) and also taking HRT have helped so much. I'm finding that doing specific, prolapse-safe, floor-type exercises several times a day, as well as other non-surgical interventions like wearing a pessary, are options that may help to avoid repair surgery and the issues that can go along with that. I just wish I had known about PFT way back when I was younger and still having children - but so thankful I know now. Sending hugs and healing prayers to you

You may have vaginal cuff dissonance. These vaginal cuff tears happen in less than 1% of woman after hysterectomy. Typically if it happens, it will happen 1-5 days after surgery. However it can happen later on.

I went to my doctor in April for crippling pain and spotting. Found out i have vaginal cuff dissonance. I had 2 open spots to start. By June it was 3. As of last week it is 4. I am 29 years old and August 10th was my 2 year hysterectomy anniversary. Im having vaginal cuff repair surgery finally on Tuesday. 2 years post op. I would get ahold of your doctor.

Vaginal cuff dehiscence. Not sure about the 1-5 days timeline being typical - I've not seen that confirmed anywhere. Several abstracts on the NIH site note 3 weeks or 1-3 months as an early point in those studies of covered cases, and that seems to be true here among members who have experienced this.

You're right that later on as you're experiencing is highly unusual, and I'm sorry you're dealing with it. Best wishes for your cuff revision surgery today and that it's successful. I'd like to invite you to share your outcome on our Separate Surgeries forum.

Thank you. Yeah my doctor said the 1-5 days time-line but I'm sure it happens at many other times. I honestly didn't know anything about it until I found out about mine.
