Aw, I’m sorry to hear this. Do you feel the therapy is working? You won’t believe his, but last year, my dr recommended it for me to help with painful sex. She said sometimes it’s associated with the pelvic floor muscles. I never did go. What do you think about it? Does the medication seem to be helping too? I like your positive outlook. Do you still have tummy swelling, too? It was great to hear from you. I do hope you’re doing better each day!

So I got on here to ask about swelling and saw this post. I’ve noticed on days after I have been extra active I’m swollen so I guess that this is normal. It’s not painful just annoying and noticeable in clothing. I have another follow up next week so I guess I will ask my dr about it then.

Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 24-Mar 01,2020
Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well! I'm feeling a little frustrated. I'm almost 6 months and I know healing is still taking place but I feel like something is off. I don't know if hormones are still working themselves out and this is normal (I've always been on bc so I'm not sure) or are ovaries prematurely failing and I'm experiencing those issues. I've asked my primary and NP at gynecologist office and both deny there should be an issue. She even said as much as to say she's never heard of hysterectomy causing premature failure and since I kept them there's no issue. I said I've done research and know that re-establishing blood supply can cause concern and she looked at me like I was crazy and said she's never heard of anything like that. Really? I'm not surprised because my entire journey of endometriosis has been filled with unknowing health professionals and misdiagnosis but I'm tired of it now. Why do they make it seem like it's so far fetched to check hormone levels and get a baseline or look for changes? I'm not sure who else to talk to. Acne, hair shedding, sweating, weight gain, emotional, and more probably. I saw an advertisement for FLO and might see if that works but what else can I do? Am I over reacting in wanting answers and should just deal with it or is it a legitimate concern? My motivation and desire to do anything is still gone. I'm just getting through the days and feel like at this point I should at least be doing more. Pain isn't too bad except when I think I'm ovulating. I have one incision healing that seems to have spread outside of it's normal area but maybe that's normal?
Any suggestions on who to see or ask for in wanting answers about hormones? Anyone else dealing with the same? I don't like being in limbo of is this normal or is it off?

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 24-Mar 01,2020
Hi Lisa1982,
It seems that many doctors don't realize that hysterectomy may cause the ovaries to shut down prematurely. Some studies indicate that younger women who have a hysterectomy face a nearly two-fold increased risk for developing menopause early. The the whole issue with blood supply to the ovaries after surgery seems to be a topic that is rarely discussed. My GP didn't realize this and my GYN never gave me a heads-up.
The symptoms you describe do sound like common menopausal symptoms; however you also mention you have increased pain when you feel you're ovulating. If you're ovulating, you aren't in menopause, unless you feel you're only ovulating irregularly?
It's hard to say what to do when your health care team chooses not to investigate what's going on. Have you considered a naturopath? I believe they may be able to check hormone levels, and perhaps help you with supplements that can help with your symptoms. I wish you the best of luck & hope you find your answers soon!
