Freaking out again--help

My gosh---I am freaking out again. I had to pick up my MRI scans today--I foolishly loaded the scans onto my computer. I could easily see my uterus FULL of fibroids--multiple. Basically my problem is from my belly button to the top of my pubic bone. My primary physician told me that my situation was serious and I needed to act fast to avoid emergency surgery. I guess these fibroids can rupture. I went to one surgeon, did not jive with her, have an appointment in about 14 hours with a new surgeon who specializes in robotic surgery--but after seeing these scans--even though I have prayed---I doubt that robotic surgery is possible---these fibroids are HUGE. I am afraid and angry at the same time--I am angry at my husband for not having health insurance for the last four years. I am angry at my parents for being soooo religious as to be annoying. I am angry at my siblings for not caring. I am nervous about my sister in law being around when I don't want her around--basically I am a real mess---ladies---comments or suggestions please.

Re: Freaking out again--help

I am not sure how they will do the Operation, I had my TAH & BSO vial Abdominal incision because I had a very enlarged Uterus and my bowel and bladder where fused with the Uterus PLUS 4 C.Sections in the past , so a LOT of scar tissue, fibroids and and and...

In the end the most important thing is that your Surgery will be save and if that means NO Labrascopic .. then this is just it I am affraid.

Re: Freaking out again--help

Hi Frightened -

I had a TAH and was amazed at how easy the recovery was for me. When my doctor informed me I needed surgery he said 'now I have the bad news' ... but it really can be okay! Don't spend any time right now on the post op boards, they are useful for post op sisters, but those of us who made it through easily didn't post on there.

Take a breath and go to that appointment with the most positive attitude you can find. If robotic isn't appropriate for you, the doctors will tell you. Make sure you take a list of questions and listen carefully. You may even want to take a friend along with you.

HUGS!!!

Re: Freaking out again--help

dear frightened, we could have an identical uterus. i also saw the images of my results, though, in my case it was an ultrasound. after my ultrasound, the tech left the room for me to get dressed. when she came back in, i was looking at the images on her screen trying to tell what was what. i aplogized to her for being nosy. she said it was fine and would explain to me what i was looking at. i'm glad she did. knowledge is power and i want to know what i'm dealing with. because of the size of both my uterus and my fibroids, my surgeon says that only tah is a possibility, and more than likely, a vertical incision is needed rather than a cute bikini line cut. everyone's situation is different though. u may have different options than me. sorry about the family situations that are going on! i can only imagine the tremendous amount of stress u must be going through. u can only do the best that u can. hang in there!

Re: Freaking out again--help

Dear frightened,

I don't have experience with the medical aspect of your situation, but as far as the anger goes, please try to take some time for yourself to ease some of it out of your heart. If you go into the surgery angry and tense and full of emotions it actually will effect your ability to heal! I am not saying you have to be ok with all the things your family has done/said/been in the past. Instead acknowledge your feelings to yourself and make an agreement with yourself that you don't want them to poison you further. Meditate, exercise, do retail therapy, whatever works to release your angers, but find a valve and open it
