Woo hoo! No bowel prep required! Yeah!

Had my preop appointment today and was dreading being told I had to either do an enema or drink the lovely beverage that cleans you out or BOTH.

Found out I have to do NEITHER! Just no food or drink after midnight.

It is scary hearing your doctor run through the list of risks:
--risk of bleeding
--risk from anesthesia
--risk of damaging other organs
--risk of infection

My TAH is Monday morning. The next few days are going to fly by, I'm sure. Scared (terrified, actually) but wanting to get this over with. Good luck to everyone else with surgery dates coming up.

How come some people have to do Bowel prep and some don't? is the kind of surgery? TAH sisters, did any of you do prep? TVH sisters, did all of you do prep?

I had a tah and didn't have to do any bowel prep either. But than again didn't have to do it with either of my c sections. As an added bonus I didn't get shaved either

I'm having either a SAH/BSO or a TAH/BSO and I have to do the bowel prep. Mainly because of the Endo. During an earlier Lap. my doctor found Endo on my bowel(s) so doing the bp will make it easier for her to clean around the bowel and check everything out.

I think it probably just depends on your doctor's preference and why you're having the surgery.

Great news!!!!!! I just found out yesterday I don't have to have the bowel prep, either. Boy was I happy!!!!!!
