Surgery date changed

I'm so stressed, anxious, angry and I don't know what else. I saw my dr on 1/28 and she wanted to do my surgery very soon. She didn't have any spot available but scheduled me for 2/6 where another dr had a time slot available and she was sure that dr would let her have it. I got a call from the scheduler yesterday late afternoon saying the other dr wouldn't give up the time so no surgery 2/6. I was mentally prepared for then and now I have to wait til the scheduler can talk to my dr on Monday to find out the next plan of action.

I'm so stressed because I get married on 3/21 and the longer I wait for the surgery, the more I'm worried about still being swollen and tired and the wedding won't happen or dress won't fit. Ugh I can't keep calm. Sorry for the venting but I just needed to get it out!

Re: Surgery date changed

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Waiting is the hardest part when it comes to just about anything. Especially if you are suffering symptoms.

Re: Surgery date changed

I'm trying to do all I can with the kids to keep my mind off things but it's hard. I'm in pain and now very anxious too. I'm just hoping now that the surgery isn't pushed out too far into Feb so I have an adequate time to heal before my wedding. I'm usual not the anxious type, but I guess there's a first time for everything.

Kaci318 -

I am so sorry you are going through all of this. Having surgery later in February would not be good for the wedding side.

If it would not endanger your health or cause other problems, could you put it past your wedding date if they cannot do this early February?

Re: Surgery date changed

Unfortunately my medical insurance ends at the end of March and my doctor is aware, so I'm hoping and praying she can squeeze me in early Feb. But if not then I will have to wait til I get new insurance (with hubby's new job) later in the year. I just don't want to deal with the pain until then.....not that anyone does....lol!

I'm trying to stay upbeat and the kids are helping because I think they can tell that mommy is a little down.

Re: Surgery date changed

My surgery was cancelled twice before I finally had it on Tuesday. I was so angry each time as I had planned for those dates. One was going to be when benefits would have paid for the entire surgery.. no copay. But nope.. bronchitis kicked in and that meant no surgery!

Really make sure your doctor's office is aware of your need to do it soon. The doctor may know but the office staff may not. Give them a firm date of when you need it done by. Don't worry about calling many times to get a status either. I did that on my last round of preparation. They understood the urgency of it and was able to finally give me a date.

Re: Surgery date changed

Thanks scanfie. I think I'll call first thing Monday morning to voice everything. I hate to bother them but like you said maybe the office staff doesn't know the whole story.
