Adenomyosis and fibroids, anyone had the Mirena IUD and depo provera injection at the same time?

Hi,

I'm new here! I'm so glad I have found this site. I'm from the UK and I live in Cornwall on the south west coast of England. I had a large calcified fibroid removed by laparoscopic myomectomy in 2014. This reduced my pain, pressure, urinary frequency and constipation. There was no endometriosis visible.

However in the last year it has got loads worse again. I have had really heavy bleeding and worse cramps and lower abdominal pain than ever. I had a new Mirena IUD in October 2016. The GYN now thinks I have Adenomyosis. It has reduced the blood flow but not the pain. Last week I had a Depo Provera injection and have been bleeding since. My GYN said that if the depo doesn't work then I can have a hysterectomy. I don't know how long I have to try it for yet. Thats what I really want now. I have had bad period pains on and off since I was 21 and I'm now 36. I'm on loads of pain killers and loads of laxatives which isn't sustainable.

I only have one ovary which I hope to keep. The other ovary and tube has shrivelled up probably due to the pedunculate fibroid on the outside of my womb. I'm not sure weather I will keep the cervix or not.

Anyone else had the Mirena and depo provera? Or anything else similar to this?

Thank you 😊
