Wink - Any New Hampshire ladies out there? Any New Hampshire ladies out there?

Hi Everyone from NH ! I'm in the Lakes Region, Belmont, NH. Had a TAH/BSO for endometrial adenocarcinoma 11/15/04 at Dartmouth Hospital in Lebanon, NH. It left me with 2 seromas, one of which was aspirated, the other is loculated and draining on its own. It's now Almost August and I'm still draining. I had a PET Scan 2 weeks ago and was told there I'm elated, feeling great and getting ready for gastric bypass surgery soon.

From what I remember, the hospital staff (nurses) weren't that great and made me feel like I was bothering them when I called them. I pressed the nurse button as little as I had to. When time to be released, I wasn't ready due to low BP, low oxygen and seromas but they wouldn't get the doctor and asked me to dress and get a ride. I complained to the hospital chaplain and felt terrible. I was still released, felt terrible and would not take the treatment given to me ever again. I'm not one to complain unless things are pretty bad and the feeling I got at Dartmouth was that they were "doing me a favor" by taking care of me. ! Incredible.

The bright side is I feel great, wished I had done the hyster years ago and sooooooooooooooooooooo glad no more heavy bleeding, clots and cramping. The only side effect I still have is tiredness. I've always been anemic and desperately needed sleep the 4 years they told me the cancer had been growing. Still tired but would do it again in a heartbeat. God bless, Ava

Any New Hampshire ladies out there?

Hi Ava, Good to hear from a hystersister from the North Country. I am sorry to hear the hospital staff gave you such a hard time instead of giving you support and understanding when you needed it the most. Before my surgery, my OBGYN consulted with the doctors at Dartmouth hospital (I have a rare connective tissue disorder) and the doctors wanted me up there so they could do the surgery. A red flag went up for me as my first thought was, the doctors want me to leave my support system, family and friends and familiar surroundings so they can do this surgery (and have the chance to study the tissue disorder I have while I am there). I felt they didn't respect me as a whole person and had their best interest at heart. It took me a split second to realize this and tell my doctor I wanted to stay in this area and had every confidence in his ability to do what he needed to do. Yes, he did a fantastic job and I am feeling much better. It sounds like you have some challenges ahead of you and you've struggled with on-going physical problems since your last surgery. I can hear in your post your positive attitude and strength in spite of the difficulties that life has put before you. I will be thinking of you and sending you positive thoughts and strength. Please let us know how you are doing. Take Care, Diane
