Stapels or Stitches?

Since every doctor is different-
Will your surgery be closed by staples or stitches?

My dr. is closing mine (TAH - bikini) with stitches.

I had my TAH Dec 4. I had neither on the outside. All of my stiches were internal. My "scar" is beautiful!

Really? I've not heard of only internal stitches w/TAH...hmmm I'm gonna have to ask my doctor about those!

Mine is going to be mostly internal but will have some external that will dissolve. I will have steri strips for a few days and the rest will melt away I guess!

I had 17 staples on my stomach-don't know how many internal stitches there are

I have had TAH post 3 weeks, internal stitches plus staples 16 in all and my scar is looking great recovering well feeling better every day.

I had bikini line incision with one single thread stich along the length. Was told it was a technique used in cosmetic surgery. Scar is almost non existent after 5 1/2 weeks

I'm having no staples or stitches on the outside, everything is inside. He will "superglue" me on the outside-thank heavens as I am horrid with stitches. Oh, and I'm having a TAH/BSO.

I also had a bikini incision with the cosmetic stitch according to my doctor "the one the plastic surgeons use".
I also had steristrips on it for about 2 1/2 weeks. The incision looks great and healed nicely.

I had an SAH (kept ovaries and part of my cervix) and had a vertical incision. I had staples, with stitches round my belly-button and 4 layers of stitches inside - I don't know exactly how many there were, but it felt like hundreds. The external incision looked very impressive - loads of metalwork - but once it was all out, it didn't amount to as much as what was inside. It's healed beautifully and in some places, the scar is hard to see.
