2.5 weeks - wow! Don't push it too fast too soon!!!! But I know what you're saying....being off work that long is crazy for me, too. I don't need financial destruction on top of surgery!

Re: Nov. 17th is getting closer & I'm scared

hi fatty fibroid -

I was back to work after 3 weeks with an LAVH - I was very active before surgery and bounced back quickly (well, not the first week, but after that)

Listen to your body - if you're not in pain, if you're comfortable sitting, if you're ready to talk to people, if you don't have OTHER stuff waiting for you at home (fixing meals, laundry, etc) and if the doctor releases you .......

you do need to heal but different people bounce back at different rates

I can`t really comment I`m not sure what the recovery time is for SAH I know personally with TAH theres no way I could have gone back to any job at 2.5 weeks but maybe SAH is quicker recovery ???????????
Sorry can`t help, but would have guessed that as its abdominal surgery surely the same recovery would apply ?

Could I have had the DaVinci with the large cysts because thats why my consultant chose the vertical incision so there was no chance of them bursting ???????????
I have five incisions or holes on my belly. No big long cuts. I had a total hyster.

Re: Nov. 17th is getting closer & I'm scared

Hi,
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy back in April. When the gynie told me I would be off 6 - 8 weeks, I told him I would wait and see. I was off 8 WEEKS and believe when I say, I should have taken more time. I have other health issues and am very over weight. I have ever read or heard of anyone being able to return to work, whether it is a desk job or not, after 2 weeks. It is major surgery !! Remember, we are only given one body and it is our responsiblity and privilege to look after it and our selves. We are worth it ! No one will ever be with you longer in your life, than yourself. You have a living breathing functioning body, that should be cherished. There are millions of others, who are not as lucky.
Good luck and take care.

Stop the smoking. I can tell you it won't be a good idea after you come out of recovery.
You can do it.

Re: Nov. 17th is getting closer & I'm scared

Keep your mind and hands busy. Only natural to have those thoughts and be frightened. Talk to friends or family and God or your priest or minister. Give it up to God. I also had those same thoughts and fears but I worried for nothing, Surgery the 6th am and back home the 7th pm. Davinci Robotic total hyster the only way to go. Feeling good.
Thanks.

Re: Nov. 17th is getting closer & I'm scared

Do you still have tenderness and numbness across the belly ? I do, but the gynie says that something must be going on ?? I had read where he does not have a beside manner, nor is understanding and compassionate. I now know that it is true.

Check with your Doctor. That's what everyone has told me.

Thanks,
