Re: A pre-op question!
The best person to answer your question is your doctor. Usually shaving (or removing hair by any other method) prior to surgery isn't advised and doing so could result in your surgery being postponed. So, add that question to your list of questions to ask at your pre-op appointment.
Here's an article on the topic: Shaving or Waxing before Hysterectomy. That article, along with information on plenty of other topics, can be found in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Articles.

Re: A pre-op question!
Definitely check with your doctor but is generally said not to shave. I had a TAH with a vertical incision and when I woke up about the top inch was shaved where they had to make the incision. But it was not shaved right down to the skin, they leave a little stubble so they don't nick the skin leaving an open cut/razor burn as an opening to infection.

Re: A pre-op question!
A pre op is typically to go over everything surgery related, so a perfect opportunity to ask this question!

Upcoming hysterectomy 3/8: To shave or not to shave?
I was told no shaving for at least 1 week prior to surgery. As mentioned above any required shaving will be done by your surgery team, within the sterile environment of the operating room, and you don't need to be embarrassed about this, because it's fairly routine for them!

Upcoming hysterectomy 3/8: To shave or not to shave?
Oh no! I'm not shy at all! I rarely get embarrassed, and I guess it could be a bad thing sometimes. When I had my daughter, and got fixed after (c-section) i was already shaved, they cut about 2 inches above. I still got that scar. And i wish they would cut straight! It's like they get shakey when they go to cuttin!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 3/8: To shave or not to shave?
So I asked my Dr today. He said that i can 2 days prior but with trimmers only, or he said i didn't have to. I probably will just my legs and underarms, the rest he can do! I don't know how to with trimmers lol.
