Surprisingly emotional pre-op

I'm scheduled for a laparoscopic hysterectomy on May 10th to resolve bleeding that's been going on since December 2020 (removing everything - uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and cervix) and thought I would be able to breeze through it emotionally. However, I'm finding myself surprisingly weepy lately and wonder if there is some pre-op emotional work that I should be doing to prepare myself for this "transition". Anyone else have this experience and can you recommend anything?

Re: Surprisingly emotional pre-op

We’re sorry you’re having problems that bring you here but very glad you’ve joined and hope you’ll benefit from the wealth of information and support.

In Princess Ruby’s links above you’ll see our Pre-Op Page which is packed with information and articles that address all our most commonly asked questions in the last 22 years, and also the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support Forum where you’ll find all the ladies awaiting surgery. Please don’t hesitate to start a new topic thread there so your sisters can share hugs and experiences.

Please be sure to check out Our "Must Have" Prepare List and visit the Hints From Members forum for thousands of sisters' must-haves and should-haves! You may also wish to visit your surgery category in Our Hysterectomy Stories forum, too, where you'll find many hundreds of detailed experiences.

Also, please take advantage of your personalised checkpoints which will refresh on an ongoing basis, and our extensive Pre-Op Video Library, too.

When you have a moment, it would be very helpful if you could tell us a little more by completing the basic surgery information in your Member Survey. (Key details will then automatically appear at the top right of your posts). You can do that by clicking on “Survey--Hyst Type” at the bottom of your screen, or the last link in the reply above. Thank you.

We’re sending positive thoughts for your surgery and recovery!
