Upcoming hysterectomy: My uterus knows its days are numbered!
I'm having a DiVinci total and the doctor is removing my vaginal septum on Monday. My dang uterus knows she's leaving and is torturing me with one final period! I'm miserable right now and have so much to do!! I just wanna stay in bed with my hot pad right now!!!

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy: My uterus knows it's days are numbered!
LOL - my last period lasted for nearly 3 months. My uterus just went evil. Ended up in the ER getting a blood transfusion.
Ironically, three days before my hysterectomy, the bleeding STOPPED! Like it was saying, "save me! don't let me go". I didn't listen it it.
I knew the bleeding would only return if I kept the darn thing.

We are in the same boat! But you are so lucky that your surgery is right around the corner! I have to wait another 6 weeks! I'm just getting over my period and am still having terrible cramps. Do you have any legitimate pain meds? I just took a Tramadol - helped with the pain, but made me nauseous and tired. So far, the best thing for me with period pain has been marijuana. Do you live somewhere that has medicinal clinics? I guess I'm lucky to be in Cali. I'm planning on stocking up for my recovery. I'm going to get edibles, as I don't think it would feel too good on my stomach if I were to cough from smoking it after. It seems like the number one problem with pain meds side effects in general is nausea and constipation, and at least with MJ, those are not an issue. I still have one more period to go after this one, so hoping it won't be this bad, but these were some of the worst cramps I've ever experienced! If there was one positive to take from your pain, I'd guess it's that at least you know you are making the right decision. Feel better and good luck with your surgery!

I know how you feel! My last one was awful and just wouldn't end, in fact it was surgically ended but good riddance!

I do take 10mg vicodin for back pain and that's just taking the edge off! Sadly no MJ here. Not medically. I can't imagine having the giggles after surgery! Be careful!!!

Yes, the hysterectomy was the best thing that I ever decided upon...no more heavy bleeding for long periods of time!

I've been using MJ since I was a teenager (note, using, not abusing), and I find it to be a wonderful drug. As an adult, I use it more as a pain killer and for relaxation, and less for recreation. It's such a shame there is a stigma behind it, and so many people are afraid to try it out. It does not give a person "the giggles" when used as a painkiller, and if it did, that is hardly a negative side effect I have found that where it wins over other drugs (namely narcotics like vicodin, percocet, etc.) is that it DOESN'T have bad side effects. It makes you relaxed, gives you an appetite, takes away nausea, headaches and pains, helps you to sleep. Those are all things most of us want after surgery. It will not affect your bowels and will not upset your tummy. I'm really glad that attitudes on pot are changing (albeit too slowly in my opinion), and hope the medical community will finally recognize the benefits of this drug over all the terrible pills they are being encouraged to dole out by big pharmacy companies.
