One week to go and just started the blues...

The night before my surgery my bp went up to 150/102. Wasn't ever sure what I was scared about since I was so anxious for surgery to alleviate pain. My doc gave me a low dose of Xanex to take the week prior to surgery to help me cope and sleep. I even found out from my pre-op surgery nurse I could have taken it (and pain meds) the morning of surgery to calm me and keep me out of trememdous pain. I wish I had asked more questions but it seemed silly since I was told nothing by mouth after midnight. So, there are no silly questions, only silly patients nervous and in pain!

I cannot tell you guys how much your answers have helped. I was beginning to feel like I was losing my mind. I was even starting to wonder whether I was going to be able to mentally handle the surgery at all. Since you have confirmed that this is something somewhat common as the day approaches, I know I can do this and, in the long run, a good thing.
