Hemorrhoid help after hysterectomy

This ain't exactly a hysterectomy issue. But I thought maybe you ladies could give me some advice. I was majorly constipated after my surgery and now I have noticed I have hemorrhoids. They don't ever seem to go away. It's not painful but more just annoying and I'm kinda self conscious about them. I have been using wipes instead of toilet paper and wutch hazel after a bowel movement. Any suggestions to get myself healed up. I started a stool softener a few weeks ago, but I don't need them anymore.

Thanks in advance.

Hemorrhoid help after hysterectomy

As I've heard from many other sisters, hemorrhoids are a common consequense of pushing against constipation to pass hard, dry stools. My top tip for producing softer, easier bowel movements is to make sure your diet includes around 25-35 grams of fiber from a variety of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains, accompanied by enough water so that your urine is clear or pale yellow. Top picks to gently stimulate the muscles in your colon, so they do the pushing for you, include magnesium from dark chocolate, leafy greens, pumpkin seeds, quinoa, and almonds; and sugar alcohols from apple or pear juice, prunes or prune juice, dried apricots, frozen cherries, and sugarless gum. Another top tip to encourage easier bowel movements is to squat while you're on the throne, with your feet elevated on a small footstool, which properly aligns your rectum so the poop can pass through more smoothly. Happy pooping, and best wishes for continued health and healing!

Re: Hemorrhoid help after hysterectomy

It's more related than you might think, and they're often due to post-op constipation. Yeah, they burn, they itch, they might bleed, and you can feel them.

Time is the best healer for 'rhoids, along with keeping your BMs soft. The foods suggested will give your BMs the right consistency; drink that water! Any fecal matter which lingers can aggravate them, so keeping the area clean helps with the burning and itching. Yes on the wipes with witch hazel. If the witch hazel stings, try a peri bottle with warm water or baby wipes. I've used lanolin as a moisture barrier which helps protect the skin when passing a stool. Lanolin will spread easier when you rub it between your fingertips first. A cold compress may help numb the itch. If you opt for an OTC hemorrhoid ointment, any with hydrocortisone shouldn't be used for more than a week at a time.

Re: Hemorrhoid help after hysterectomy

I too have been dealing with hemmoroids and have been doing everything that has been suggested and would like to add one more suggestion. I have been using essential oils and have been getting some great results. Lavender and tee tree oil is the combination I’ve been using and mixing them with fractionated coconut oil as the carrier. Dapping the cursed little beasts with some of this mixture on a cotton ball. Good luck!
