Well, I came home today around 4:30 p.m. Had hysterectomy on Tuesday. I have alot of nausea the first day and vomited a few times. Knew I made the right decision to have the ovaries out when the ER nurse said after the operation "those ovaries needed to come out". Most of the endometriosus was on the ovaries my doctor said. Feel better every day. Have cramping high in the abdomen after I eat and have not been able to go to the bathroom yet. The Percocet helps the pain. Thank God I made it through the anesthesia and truly, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'll keep ya' informed.

Okay, I had surgery Wednesday, came home today Thursday at 2:45. My uterus was up against my bladder, and he did puncture my bladder. So, they had to call in an urologist, and now I have 3 stitches in my bladder, an antibotic he gave me to prevent an infection in my bladder, and I have to wear a catheter for 10 days, so I don't stress my bladder. Everything else went great. I walked around my hosp. room 3 times last night, my pain was under control. I took 2 pain pills last night at 11:30, and didn't take anymore until I left the hosp. today at 2:15. I've walked the stairs three times, and sat in the livingroom until 6:30. My dr. did tell me I made the right choice keeping my ovaries, they were very healthy. He said my uterus was spongy and not hard, and he had never seen anything like that before. He had two educated guesses of what he thought the pathology report would say. He told me he hopes to get my pathology report back Monday. All in all, I'm so glad the surgery part is over with. I'll keep you posted!

Had LSH Tuesday, went into the OR at 8 and was back in my room by 2 p.m. Took a while to pee after the catheter was removed, went home by 8 p.m. I actually am surprised at how good I felt after, just really sore. I had uterine artery embolization done before this and I felt awful for several days after that. Been walking around the house and drinking lots of water. They gave me Toradol just prior to discharge from the hospital and so far have only been taking ibuprofen for pain (MD prescribed celebrex but broke out in rash after 2nd dose), and it's working well. Can't wait to be able to go for a jog....will find out when I can at my first post-op appt next week. Thanks to hystersisters for all of the great info!

LHO on 5/30/07

Had my laproscopic assisted hysterectomy with oofectomy on Wednesday for varicose veins in ovaries. So far, I'm happy with my decision. I'm moving around well, going up and down stairs without problems, no problems urinating, but haven't had a bm yet. When should I expect that? Any guesses. I also haven't noticed any problems related to hormones. I'm wondering when that will kick in too. My MD doesn't do HRT until 2 weeks post-op because of the increased risk of blood clots in the legs while being less ambulatory. All in all, things are going well.

I had LSH on Tuesday, had my first BM today (Friday). I have been drinking 3 liters of water daily, 2 cups of coffee with oatmeal in the a.m., lots of veggies/fruits, no meat, very little carbs. I was getting ready to eat metamucil fiber wafers if nothing happened by tomorrow. Kept my ovaries so not sure about the hormones. Good luck!

I'm new to this site-- first post. My LAVH was May 29th. I came home yesterday, May 31. I had some difficulty with the morphine and darvocet that had me in the hospital an additional day.

So far no major pain. After the second day, I was using ibuprofen only for pain. Just experienced my first post-op bm and that was the most painful thing so far. LOL

I'm going nuts just sitting around resting... I want to jump back into my life. I know that will be my biggest problem.

Lsh 5/31

Had my LSH and bladder sling on Thursday at 7 am. Was in extended recovery by 1 pm, and came home at 7:30 pm. So far feeling pretty good.
No trouble peeing, drinking lots of water, no Bm yet, though. I have been moving around really well. Brain fog is my biggest bother at this point. Loud noises seem to jar me.

I am dealing with pain with ibuprophen during the day and I took a vicodin last night before bed. But my pain is pretty minimal.

I'll update more in a few days,
Cindy

3 days post-op and making great progress. I'm doing advil for pain during the day, and precocet at night. I've walked around the block, walked around the mall, bought a new dress and had a bm. I even managed to do 2 loads of laundry. I did take a nap, and I'm trying really hard not to overdo, but I'm feeling good enough that my husband is taking me out for dinner! Yeah!
