Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

If your hysterectomy was between May 17-May 23,2010 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

Well! I did it! My surgery date was May 17th (yesterday) I got to the castle at 9 am, and everything went really quickly. My nurse knows about this site and it helped her also!

I had a SAH. My Dr. initially wanted to go threw my vagina and take everything but my ovaries, but I refused. I just couldn't let go of my cervix. He cauterized my cervix while he was there so hopefully no mini-periods. I was very sore yesterday. They were giving me morphine like it was candy. I got up and walked around last night at 8 and it was pretty painful.

They came in early this morning to check on me, took out my catheter, gave me breakfast (they tried to give me more morphine and I asked for Motrin instead). 2 hours later I was sitting up, and using the bathroom on my own. Boy ohh boy is the gas a nuisance! It makes walking pretty painful at the moment. And it seems like any little thing I do I want a nap. So, for the next few days I will pretty much be stuck to the couch or my bed. My hubby will be off for almost 3 weeks and he is taking his duties pretty seriously. Happy healing everyone!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

Hi all-I got home last night from my TLH!!!! I was so excited-my doc told me it was a 50-50 chance she's do a TAH instead because of how big everything was. As it was, surgery took 4 hours.
I'm feeling good-didn't really sleep in the hospital and really crashed out last night-I'd set my alarm to take my meds, walk, pee, drink some water and go back to sleep!
I too will be sleeping alot the next few days!

I had a Divinci Robotic Hysterecomy on Monday May 17, 2010. I went home the same day. The most pain was in my shoulder joints and my knee. My pelvis hurts a little but not much. It is much better today

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

I had laproscopic (vaginal assist) surgery on May 17th, they had to remove everything as the endometriosis had "grabbed my ovaries and moved them behind the uterus." My colon was also attached to my uterus with scarred adhesions. That said, I'm glad the surgery is done. I went home yesterday and I am able to walk around the house, but resting often. I have quite a bit of pain when trying to move around to get up, but feeling better. I haven't started the hormome therapy and will have to check out that info. Wish you all well!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

Doing really well here! I had a Da Vinci surgery on Monday (May 17). They knew they'd also have to take my left ovary but weren't sure about my right - the good news is that the endometriosis hadn't advanced over there yet, so I get to keep that one.

I stayed in the hospital overnight for observation and came home Tuesday evening. Have not been in much pain and have been moving around pretty easily. All systems seem to be back online (including my bowels - yay!) and am not having very much gas pain. I have a little soreness from the catheter and am not sleeping very well, but getting lots of rest and 'pampering the princess.'

So far, so good! I appreciate how much information I learned here!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

I had my robot hyst on the 17th, I stayed overnight at the hospital and went home Tuesday afternoon. The pain isn't too bad, the worst was in my hips and lower back when I first woke up.

I'm having a little trouble with my tummy and don't have any interest in eating, but I'm snacking a little here and there.

Every time I get up to pee or walk a little I need a nap, lol. I've been stuck in bed, I'm afraid to sit on the couch, it's really deep and I'm not sure I'd be able to get out of it.

Oh, and I finally farted today! Wohooo, hehehehe

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

I had TVH may 17 and am pretty sleepy and already a bit bored lol. I do hurt alot and think I may just have a low pain tollerance because ppl say that TVH usually doesnt hurt much. or so they have said to me. anyways I have had to ask for help alot which is unlike me and hard to do. I had alot of gassy pains yesterday when I ate solid foods so need to stick with less solids, more water.

I get up at least every 2-3 hours to pee and take a lap around the house. I am going to try a shower today to get my hair clean and the sticky circles off of me.

My kids get me breakfast before they go to highschool then Ive had a friend or relative over to hang out and get me lunch etc then around 4 my kids get home then hubby. our church is doing our dinners for a few days so i dont have to worry.

Yesterday i noticed the area where uterus was, was a bit hard almost like swollen so i used an ice pack and it felt a bit less tense there. time for another nap.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

Oh my goodness-finally pooped! Is that TMI? With all the narcotics I felt like I was creating another mass to replace the one surgery just removed ;-). Actually shuffled half a block down the street this morning to get a newspaper-then had to sleep for two hours LOL.
Angeljess I'm with you-I'm going to get bored FAST once I stop being sooo tired and I'm already a bit bored!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 17-May 23,2010

I want to poop too! LOL! I am still gassy, not as much as yesterday though. I too am getting so boreddd. I get up every so often and pace the house looking for anything to do...with my husband following closely behind making sure I am not doing anything at all that may compromise my first it was cute..but now it is getting annoying lol. I have taken 3 naps already today, and with all this writing I am thinking I may need another one. Happy healing sisters!
