Three days...mixed emotions

Three more days and I've been awaiting the day with something near joy, knowing it will all be behind me soon.

Yesterday was my last day of work and today we just relaxed and took time to unwind and distress. We went out to eat, to the movies and did a little shopping. It was all great, but as I sit here doing nothing now, the emotions are catching up to me.

Three more days and everything changes: no more trying to plan things AROUND my period. No more cramps, no more excessive bleeding, no more diaper sized pads that end up chafing. All things to celebrate!

Yet for the first time since the initial shock of it all, I feel a little sadness. I'm not scared of the surgery because I've gone through similar surgeries, but I guess it's sinking in that I'm removing a part of myself. I realize that I'm losing something by force rather than it finally going away with age. I'm honestly surprised that I feel this way!

However, on with the show. I'm so glad to have found you all and know that I'm not alone and I'm not crazy!

Good luck to everyone else waiting right there with me! I'm ready to discover life on the other side!

Re: Three days...mixed emotions

Hi LazyDaisy84 -

Your sadness is understandable and very normal. I mourned for sometime about loosing everything, with my emotions in turmoil after surgery. It is hard to say goodbye to something that has made its presence known to you, for better or worse, for decades. It is hard to loose something so intimate.

Just know that you are not alone in this, and we really understand what you are feeling.
