Day 5

32 years young, Total hysterectomy on September 11th to treat endometriosis. Pain is managed with Aleve and Perocet. Loss of appetite, tired and feel dizzy. Have had bad headaches off and on. I am trying not to sleep as much during the day in hopes of eliminating the headaches. When I walk I can feel the pounding in my head. The headaches are worse than the swollen belly.

Still nauseous. My labia are swollen purple and I have only had one BM (the wee one that got me released from the hospital). I am extremely hot and am wondering if it is due to no ovaries. Does anyone know how long before menopuase kicks in?

Hang in there ladies! I have asked myself too often this week "what the hell have I done!"

I hope to feel better soon!

?????

It is so nice to have a place to come to with questions. I have been reading over the posts to see if I am progressing normally compared to everyone else. So far looks good. I have so many questions. I've had my uterus, tubes, ovaries, partial cervix removed abdominaly. I am 47 with a family history of cancer. They put a climara patch on me in the hospital and I had a reaction a couple of days later with severe leg cramps and dizziness. The doctor told me to remove it 2 days ago and I still have the leg cramps. I have been doing some research about Bioidentical and natural hrt. Is anyone knowledgable about these? How long before I really need hormones? Has anyone decided not to do the hrt? I get my staples out tomarrow. It is wierd the area along the incision is totally numb. Is anyone else numb there? I hope it stays like that until they take the staples out. I was having the whole issue with gas and no bm for the first 4 days. My husband got me some milk of magnesia and that worked within 24 hours. I only took half the dose though. I was afraid of cramping. Then about 12 hours later took the other half. I feel so much better. Hot tea works really good too for the gas pains. You all take care.

Came home from hospital Saturday after TAH/BSO on Wed, so good to be home. Finally slept well last night...nice to be back in my own bed!
Had been trying to get rid of headache last couple of days so tried switching to straight Motrin instead of the Tylenol 3, seems to be working. Pain has been very tolerable without the stronger medication so will see what happens.
So far, so good, will be back at Dr's office Monday to have Staples removed and will be discussing HRT then.
Just discovered this website yesterday. Wish I had seen it BEFORE surgery but glad to be here. Take care everyone!

Doing good. Been home for two days now. I finally got a shower. Yes, I took a very long hot and relaxing one. Hehehee, left a cold water for dh. Couldn't help myself.

I took finally passed **bm** (tmi) expect doing that means your body is offically awake and working properly.

I now have grown accustomed to my leash per say. Hopefully, when it comes out tomorrow I won't have to have it put back in..

Surgery the 10th

Doing really great. It's been 6 days, had easy time at the hospital, food was horrible so on the way home had Wendy's little burger & frosty. Second day home Taco Bell. Eating and the resulting effect have not been a problem. Pain very little. Walking daily a couple of times outside. Much easier than I had expected, but have to keep a lid on my activity. Biggest problem boredom. Hope everyone else has a good a time as me. Thanks for support and I sure feel blessed.

Yesterday was a pretty good day, I had energy and very little pain. I spent the day puttering around the house, probably overdid it because by evening I was crampy and very tired. Found that wearing a pair of control-top nylons helps considerably with the cramping - feels like my inside are a little more supported, and not nearly the amount of twinging going on. I am heading to the store later today to purchase a couple pairs that are a little larger - the 'sm/med" size is a little snug right now!

I finally slept more than 4 hours in a row last night! Wheeee! Got up only once to use the bathroom and was able to fall right back to sleep with no problems. Even took a little nap late morning and was able to sleep on my side with the support of a body pillow.

Great to hear you are all doing well!!

Butterfly101 - That is fantastic you are feeling ok. I don't want to say good as it may imply more than I mean. I have been able to do the sleeping on side with support pillow but I burn inside when I get up or turn. Do you? My left lower inscision (?sp) is tender and a tad swollen, I though maybe from laying on side to rest? When you pee is it all one session or is it stop and go?

Still kinda stop and go (thought that was just me), but it is getting more steady, and I've noticed that when I need to go, the usual feeling has returned, as opposed to just a painful pressure telling me to get off my butt and head to the bathroom. Gotta love drinking lots and lots and lots of fluids! It certainly is an effective way to make sure we are getting exercise!

When I've been down for a while, I do feel tenderness inside when I get up and start moving around, nothing horrible, but it is there.

Thanks for the heads-up on the incision thing - I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Here's to a continuing good recovery for you, Perceptionist!!

day 5

Feeling a little better today. Yesterday was not a good day. I was extremely emotional (crying, mad at dh) and just felt BLAH. Also, it was the first day I dealt with gas pain. I also had pain in my shoulder blades which the doc said was the gas from the surgery (I had a LAVH). My three sites are doing well but hurt if I cough or laugh.
I did feel sad this am as my son said he wished I would bring him to school and how long till I am better....
