daVinci Robotic Hysterectomy
Age at Surgery 70
Location: Danville, PA

Cervical cancer. One and done. Total hysterectomy. No chemo, or radiation needed. Good recovery. No complications. Three months post surgery complete dehiscence. Protruding bowel. Had surgical repair July 27. Physically feel good. Emotionally and mentally I'm a mess. Afraid this could happen again. No one has any answers
Happened after sex, but had been given the go ahead at six weeks. Very high anxiety.

The surgery was outpatient. Laparoscopic Robotic assisted. In and out. General anesthesia. Went to sleep, woke up, went home. 8AM to 3PM. Great care. Efficient.

My recovery was easy. Took about two hours after I woke up to be completely clear headed. Able to get dressed on my own. No real pain. Scant amount bleeding. I didn't have a care in the world. Cancer was gone. Felt good. Went home with a totally positive attitude.

My health was fine. At six weeks I was cleared to resume normal activities. I started running again. Swimming, kayaking, etc. I held off on sex due to my own anxiety. Of course I am glad I had the hysterectomy. I had cancer. Could have done without the dehiscence!

Make sure your are aware of possible consequences. Of course they give you the papers to sign and quickly explain the myriad of issues that could arise. Infection can be taken care of with antibiotics. Constipation with stool softeners. Dehiscence is scary and requires emergency surgery. Be mentally prepared. Sex can year you apart even if you have been given permission. Something was not right.
