Looking for August sisters

Hello all August sisters,

gayley, I'm thinking 2 weeks post-op to start back to some work also....maybe at home, maybe part-time at the office. I haven't talked to my Dr. about this yet so, of course, need to hear his thoughts.

Ladies, any ideas about this time frame. I know the longer the better, but we are all so used to scheduling all our life around "monthly inconveniences" that this, in some way, seems like just another inconvenience to me. A BIG inconvenience, but mentally I'm just thinking that once I'm feeling better from the surgery, I know (hope) all the other problems will be history and I'll have a new lease on life!

How does a TAH/BSO compare to a laparotomy, for example? I had a tubal pregnancy and had to have the above, so understand some of the incision recovery, but, of course, I was 20 years younger and ?? #s lighter and this is more involved....any thoughts?

My best wishes and most positive thoughts and HUGS (I haven't figured out the icons yet, any help out there) go out to all of you.

Looking for August sisters

Hi llama lover Sandy! I am hoping I don't have to take too much time off work. I can link up the office computer with mine and work from home so I won't be totally behind when I finally do go back to work. That way I can also work in my "comfy clothes" and sleep when I need to. My boss told me to take all the time I need to recover. Anyway I guess there is just no way to judge these things until it actually happens. I am so tired of the constant pain and bleeding that it will actually be a relief to have the surgery. Because my ovaries are barely functioning I am already on HRT so hopefully that won't be an adjustment I have to make. So many things to think about!!

PS I haven't figured out the icons yet, either.

I got my "date" on Friday and am headed for the castle 8/28- that will give me a long weekend with DH home an extra day for the Labor Day Holiday to pamper me (I hope!)

Linda Wilde- regarding the benefit pay, ours is similar to yours in that we don't get the full amount but the last time I took it a few years ago they didn't take out taxes so the bottom line was similar to my take-home pay. Also check to see how they work taking out any insurance premiums while your gone. My employer requires that you pay the FULL premium for insurance while off (usually they pay half each mont). Most employers will work with you on this and just take a little extra each month when you get back.

I hope everything works out for you. You don't need to have financial worries on top of everything else. If all else fails, talk with your creditors and let them know what is going on, they may be willing to work out something with you.

GOOD LUCK!

Hi Sandy and gayleb

I will try to help you girls with this icon thing.

O.k. what you do ( I feel like the blind leading the blind) . I am supposing that what you mean by the icon thing is that you cannot get the smilies to work. On that assumption I will have you girls click on the purple icon that says "user cp", then click on edit options, then scroll all the way down to the bottom and under the heading "Other options" click yes. That should enable the use of the smilies when you post.

You will find the selection of smilies at the left of your screen when you wish to post. You can either copy them or click and use as you go along. Hope this is what you where asking help on, if not just consider this pre-op brain fatigue

August Date

Hey everyone,
I just got my date yesterday...Aug. 15th @7am...Yikes! I've already started the house cleaning - though I'll have to do it again before I go to the castle.. The Dr gave me something to help me sleep at night, but my dh thinks they gave me speed by mistake because I won't sit still! I just realized today that I only have one more period left!!!! Yeah!!!!
Best of luck to everyone!

I am august too

hi to all my sisters,

it is great to know you are not alone in this, I am scheduled for my TAH on the 22nd of august.

I am anemic..(5) and as I have been bleeding since this last test , so I have to have another in 4 days time..if I am not improved, or even if they are lower who knows what they will do.

I cant say I am really nervous as such, as my surgery has been postponed once due to anemia... but do go thru stages of wondering if this is all really necesary!!! I feel dreadful, but as this has been going for so long, I think I feel that this is just life.

Any one understand what I mean??

I love this site and think it is doing an excellent job, but the comments are making it more of a reality for me, so the jitters are beginning to hit, but with the chance of postponement again...they arent too bad

I too visit this site daily and drink up the comments, it is so wonderful to have an listening ear that understands the comments we dont put down.

hugs to you all
