Caught a cold!! Hysterectomy scheduled for Tuesday 4/28 :(

I called the on call doc and they said go to urgent care and make sure it's not strep.. It's not they diagnosed me with a upper respitory infection (cold) they said to make sure I call my surgeons office Monday morning.
Anyone been through this?

How frustrating!

This actually nearly happened to me! I started feeling like I was fighting off a cold 3 days before my surgery date, then got barely any sleep for a few nights because of the bowel prep and being up every half hour to void, so continued to not feel so great... But I just kept pounding fluids and hoping I would feel better by the day of my surgery- and almost miraculously I was able to get some decent sleep the night before surgery and woke up feeling almost 100% with clear airways. Went ahead with the surgery and have been feeling really good and no sign of my cold.

Take care of yourself and hydrate well- perhaps you can turn this around in time! If not then definitely reschedule, I wouldn't want to deal with a full blown cold in top of recovering from surgery- besides feeling badly it would be almost impossible to cough or blow your nose as needed.

I am so sorry you caught a cold.

Drinking lots of fluids is good advice. Also avoid OTC meds and herbal remedies unless approved by your doctor.

It can be a day of the surgery evaluation. Hopefully by Tuesday you will be feeling better. But definitely call on Monday to see what they say. If it gets cancelled, it will be for your own health - even thought it will be very frustrating.
