swelly belly q, underwear and bleeding
Am making last minute preparations for my TAH/ BSO on Monday (2/21) and am going shopping for underwear. Just how much swelling is swelly belly with a TAH? Are we talking several sizes in underwear? Are there any other suggestions besides granny panites...I'm a tini-bikini gal usually and know that I won't be able to tolerate them with my incision. How much do you bleed with a TAH? and how long? Thanks for any advice you can give me! Now that the date is so close, I'm starting to fret about the little details like underwear!

swelly belly q, underwear and bleeding
I had a TAH on 11/29/04 and like you had read about swelly belly and granny panites. I didnt buy any and I didnt need them was able to wear my regular panites out of the castle. I wear cotton briefs all the time so that may make a differencre. Bleeding for me was minimal. I bleed for 2 days and nothing since. The doctor put a pad and the lovely net panties on me in the or and had those on till the 2nd day shower I didnt need anything afther that.

swelly belly q, underwear and bleeding
I couldn't stand the granny panties I bought (the elastic around the legs was irritating) so I ended up picking up some boy shorts from Victoria's Secret (Target has some good ones too). They have no elastic around the waist or the legs, so they dont' bind anywhere.
I wore a panty liner for about a week, though I rarely had any spotting.
I went up one size for the recovery period (from M to L) - but still wore lots of my old underwear during that time too (just not the bikinis because it came too close to the incision.
Take care.

swelly belly q, underwear and bleeding
Hi,
I had SAH and haven't bled at all, even right after surgery. I do have swelly belly, but I can wear my regular underwear. I usually wear "hipster" underpants. They come up a little higher than bikinis and have been comfy with the incision. Right after the surgery, though, I put on flannel pyjamas, big and loose, no underwear.

Ha, Ha, Ha, I don't mean to laugh but all the talk of swelly belly worries me as I already have a swelly belly. Does this mean it's going to get worse! God, I sure hope not. I already look 5 months pregnant!!
I guess I was sort of hoping that I may lose some of the belly after the surgery. Maybe I just won't be able to tell if it's from the surgery or just my normal little pot belly.

I went up two sizes with the granny panties. I can't stand the legs on them, so I found some size 9s with the high cut leg. As for the bleeding, I have had minimal discharge except for one morning I had a flow of bright red. I called the DR, and she assured me that it probably came from a stitch in the vaginal cuff dissolving. Everything settled down, and I am avoiding bending down, and straining when I go potty. (Straining may loosen a stitch as well.)

I found these great no-nonsense panties at the supermarket that are the high French Cut kind with a non-elastic cotton waist. So they're attractive, inexpensive, and still will come up over the belly button. Got 'em a size too big because they're kind of big to begin with.

There was a suggestion on here earlier... last week maybe, that we but men's boxer briefs... and oh, they've saved my life!!! They're so comfy!!!
I had my TAH/BSO last Friday... wait it's my one week hysterversary WOOHOO!!! Anyways... LOL
I only bled for the first 4 days... I've had a little very light "old blood" discharge on occasion, but no more blood... so far!!!
Good luck to you!
