Vaginal Packing

My doctor told me that I would have vaginal packing (TVH on November 15th). I understand that removing it can be quite painful. I'd like to get some responses from my sisters who have had packing. Is it a "quick" removal or does it take a few minutes. Does it feel (I know this is gross - sorry) like removing a tampon that is not fully absorbed? Help

I haven't had mine yet, but I will reply.....alot of the threads I've read from the "tell your hyst story" sub-forum say that it does not hurt, but it seems to go on forever when the dr is removing it. They said it feels more like pressure. Some women report pain though. Also, I'm not too sure if all women get this with a hyst. Anyone know?

I've had vaginal packing twice. Both times during the removal, it was not painful at all. It just feels a little strange and it's amazing how much gauze they can put up there. It takes about 15-30 seconds to pull out. It's not really a big deal and for me it was a relief because I felt pressure due to it. You'll be fine. It's not really anything to worry about.

Like Dianne, I found it a relief to have the packing removed. It didn't hurt when it was in, but it made me realize how a turkey must feel. It took just a few seconds to come out. No, it does not feel anything like a tampon. More like a silk scarf would feel coming out (if you can imagine such a thing).

I've also had the packing twice and it didn't hurt coming out just felt strange but it's over very quickly. The nurse took mine out.
